Isolate, Expose, Avoid
"What does it mean when a public lobbying firm says that a key objective is to “isolate and expose extremists”?" The simple answer: Alioto and Hom are going to make certain that the Construction Firm money donated to the campaign to pass Proposition R isn't going to go to waste on "extremist" things like more and better teachers, supporting more student enrollment, and staying off of probation. This is a typical development scam. Stay on 'em Ms. Luzzaro.

Permit an insolvent city to subsidize a Charger stadium?
I've found it mostly to be pretty simple. Disagreement is encouraged, but so is civility. You should listen to Keynesian and Hayekian economists disagree, at times their ideologies are entirely opposite, but you would never hear it in the tones of their voices. Well, except perhaps for Krugman, I've listened to him go off, and he's written some pretty caustic articles, too.

Ah. Monaghan, apologies, I misinterpreted your last sentence. I'm not normaly a crime scene/court/trial reader, I generally make exceptions for cover articles in the Reader. And Al, I join Monaghan in offering my sypathies as well, I couldn't imagine in a million years how painful this ordeal must have been for you and your family to endure.

No, I just wanted to make sure that she got a fair shake on that, she was honest about it up front and there have been recent discussions about this thing or that concerning multiple nicknames. Mindy didn't get off on the right foot with a few people in here, there was some discussions over something she had written. Some of that never went completely away, both parties still seem peeved by it. We got into it at one point as well, but that's over and done and I don't have an issue with her either. I don't know if she'll come back or not, that's up to her. With the Pig story, some people are affected by that sort of thing I guess. I was a little surprised because there were no pigs killed during the story, and it didn't seem to slant to far one way or another in my opinion. Honestly, I had no idea there were wild pigs out there, took me by surprise.

System to Be Bucked?
"..$1500 and $7000 a month..." Absurd. The vast majority of Tijuanenses renting close to down town Tijuana (or really, in most affluent areas) still pay their rent in U.S. dollars. Almost all businesses in Tijuana not only accept U.S. dollars but prefer them. People are not going to stop this practice, which means the regional liquidity will dry up because people are now going to be holding dollars. It's also going to drive the exchange rate into fluctuation. Economically stupid decision.

I've found it mostly to be pretty simple. Disagreement is encouraged, but so is civility. You should listen to Keynesian and Hayekian economists disagree, at times their ideologies are entirely opposite, but you would never hear it in the tones of their voices. No, I just wanted to make sure that she got a fair shake on that, she was honest about it up front and there have been recent discussions about this thing or that concerning multiple nicknames. Mindy didn't get off on the right foot with a few people in here, there was some discussions over something she had written. Some of that never went completely away, both parties still seem peeved by it. We got into it at one point as well, but that's over and done and I don't have an issue with her either. I don't know if she'll come back or not, that's up to her. With the Pig story, some people are affected by that sort of thing I guess. I was a little surprised because there were no pigs killed during the story, and it didn't seem to slant to far one way or another in my opinion. System to Be Bucked?
"..$1500 and $7000 a month..." Absurd. The vast majority of Tijuanenses renting close to down town Tijuana (or really, in most affluent areas) still pay their rent in U.S. dollars. Almost all businesses in Tijuana not only accept U.S. dollars but prefer them. People are not going to stop this practice, which means the regional liquidity will dry up because people are now going to be holding dollars. It's also going to drive the exchange rate into fluctuation. Economically stupid decision.— August 17, 2010 5:55 p.m.
