$15,000. a week - La Jolla (UT- Sunday, July 15). My neighboring vacation rental, a 3 BR 2 BA house, goes for $1200 a day. To serve the "low-cost" visitor, there is often a special for $7000 a week. Is this what the Coastal Commission really wants? I guess it is all in where you are coming from. The framers of the Coastal Act never envisioned AirBnB with those words. Venice, Italy is our example. With over 1,000,000 visitors, the permanent population is 100,000. They have had to set aside one of their islands as a laundry facility for sheets and towels. A $7000 per week house here can generate $360,000 a year for an investor. No ordinary family can compete with that investor for home ownership.
