Hedgecock firm gives big to anti-Alvarez campaign
I always enjoy the history. We have to be reminded in this town, and often.— January 13, 2014 2:07 p.m.
Lady Catarina claimed to be connected to the Guggenheims
Great story. I read your earlier one, and this one is good, too. Stop con men and women before they strike again --- because punished or unpunished, they will!— November 20, 2013 4:15 p.m.
Some legislators won't attend Steve Peace's Maui bash
Great line: "....in other words, anybody with a vote in the legislature who wants to claim a nice freebie and can handle a little media heat." They handled the media heat just fine in past years. Hard to believe, but clearly they just did not care. Guess it took nothing less than an FBI raid for the legislators and staffers to even look up and listen, to catch on that voters don't think this is primarily an educational forum! And what is Eli Lilly doing with this group anyway? Very odd.— November 12, 2013 11:53 a.m.
UCSD conceals Fletcher's reason for graduating five years late
Confidentiality in the academic review process? How about a little INTEGRITY in the academic review process!— October 30, 2013 2:12 a.m.
Lowe Enterprises seeks to develop Mission Valley's Town and Country hotel
To commenter above, Lowe Enterprises is a different entity. As stated above, it's a real estate group. See their website. Love their self-description quote above: they have a "focus on ,,,, opportunistic investment opportunities. " I should say so.— October 24, 2013 2:15 p.m.
Jerry Brown's Fletcher endorsement a Prop 30 payoff?
I admire a lot of things Brown has done. This, however, is not one of them.— October 22, 2013 10:09 p.m.
Coal industry's D.C. advocate listed as "winemaker" on Fletcher disclosure
He looks like a little old winemaker to me.— October 21, 2013 2:44 p.m.
Miramar's air show and military contractor bash cancelled by D.C. politics?
From the U-T article (a very confusing read, by the way, about the financing) I did learn that profits go to programs for the families on base. Sounds logical (though frankly I think the military and U. S. government/taxpayers ought to pay for most of what these air shows apparently cover). What I did not learn is anything about the sponsors - did they name even one? There is always going to be a conflict when military + military contractors + money get put in the cauldron and stirred. Does not seem like a good system.— October 4, 2013 10:32 p.m.
Donor in big money Filner border scandal turns to Fletcher
Excellent reminder of this history. Has never been fully explained but following the money usually is the way.— October 3, 2013 12:17 p.m.
San Diego pols got lots of Del Mar fair freebies
Hopefully the Schenk Era will soon come to an end. It's long overdue. One of the main reasons she lost her congressional post (after one term) was that she limited the "goodies" (jobs & access) to her inner circle.— October 1, 2013 10:49 p.m.
