Cops kick out public from Sweetwater board meeting
Troll, we are not going to fall for your pathetic attempt at setting up a straw man.— October 23, 2013 4:17 p.m.
Teachers for Sweetwater district face insurance cost hike
Most of those class studies compare the difference of class size of 20 students in a class versus 30. We are talking about 40+ in a class in Sweetwater. I know of no studies that examine class size that is close to 50. Imagine 40+ middle schoolers in a class on their iPads;how would a teacher even begin to supervise usage.— October 19, 2013 8:06 a.m.
Teachers for Sweetwater district face insurance cost hike
SUHSD teachers can have up to 182 students assigned to their five classes.— October 17, 2013 6 p.m.
Teachers for Sweetwater district face insurance cost hike
Hey troll, you are not going to succeed in making SEA the scapegoat for this one. Are you the same one who used to call himself SEAmember?— October 17, 2013 5:56 p.m.
Sweetwater school district's real estate deals gain momentum
Parents, community members, teachers and students need to attend the board meeting on Monday, October 21 at 6PM, 1130 Fifth Avenue. Come early to get a seat!!!— October 15, 2013 5:29 p.m.
Unreasonable search of Olympian High School students?
Stewart Payne, isn't he one of the five activists responsible for challenging the corrupt SUHSD? Didn't John McCann slap a TRO on him that was dismissed because it was found to be groundless? Didn't the district pay for that legal fiasco? Didn't the district also pay for the private investigator who went to Kathleen Cheers' home? Do you think district leadership, some of whom are under felony indictment, might be trying to silence these whistle blowers? Watch out Fran, John and Maty!— October 6, 2013 2:18 p.m.
Sweetwater school district backs off on Alliant International University plan
If you ask high school students what they plan to be when they grow up, most of them will answer "doctor or lawyer." This includes students who can barely construct a sentence. We have filled their heads with the dream that anyone can go to college, but we have been remiss making them understand the skills and resources it will take to graduate from college. Students with a C average in the Sweetwater District are not prepared for a university and need to take remedial classes at a junior college in order to have a chance at obtaining the skills they will need to obtain that dream of becoming a doctor or lawyer. Even in the best case scenario where these students, saddled with debt, obtain a bachelors degree from Alliant, what is it worth? We all know that Alliant and its predecessor, USUI, are "buy a degree" institutions. After all, Brand obtained his doctorate there. I encourage you all to read his dissertation, which is NOT impressive.— September 8, 2013 4:35 a.m.
Alliant University leaves Sweetwater school district property in National City…sets up at Southwestern College?
A site administrator recruited for Alliant in AP classes during class time at one high school in SUHSD that I know about . I suspect it was at Brand's directive since site administrators are too busy to add this task to their already demanding work load.— August 11, 2013 5:35 a.m.
After car crash, Sweetwater trustee McCann out of ICU
If McCann is found to be at fault, I worry about the district pressuring this employee to modify his version of the accident in order to keep his job.— July 31, 2013 4:32 p.m.
