Beware fake Apple pop-ups
Never mind. I clicked the link with Lindsey's information. Huge service to us semi-literates, San Diego Reader, thanks very much!— May 12, 2018 1:12 p.m.
Beware fake Apple pop-ups
Does Tony Lindsey have a phone number? Does he take private patients? I got into a huge mess earlier this year with Apple Mail fakery and East Indian "help" and it cost a bunch to undo the damage. Ignorance is a big liability. In the end, Apple Support is brilliant, kind and free.— May 12, 2018 1:09 p.m.
Sara Jacobs, 29, runs for Congress
Hey, Matt101, this is the USofA where pretty much anybody can do anything they please, including change their gender and their pronouns. It is a great country. Anyone is free to be -- or even run for office, like Sara: a slog becomes a fun adventure when grandad pays the bill. The only"stalwart" in the race for Issa's seat is Doug Applegate, in my humble opinion, because he's the person who challenged Issa two years ago and nearly won election. That's when Issa was still a powerhouse incumbent and female candidacy was not yet its own fashionable reward.— May 12, 2018 12:01 p.m.
SDSU errors hit taxpayers, Cox flips on net neutrality, UT stories for sale
It pays the rent until Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong takes possession. We hope that will be very soon.— May 11, 2018 6:52 p.m.
SDSU errors hit taxpayers, Cox flips on net neutrality, UT stories for sale
Let voters beware who have to decide in November on those competing ballot measures between SDSU and SoccerCity about developing land in Mission Valley. Personally, I'm going for the original SoccerCity proposal, offered by successful entrepreneurs with deep pockets, initiative and vision. No McCronies, no sweetheart deals with low bids and high cost-overruns, no taxpayers left holding the bag.— May 11, 2018 6:51 p.m.
Sara Jacobs, 29, runs for Congress
"Silly argument." "Zero sense." Not too respectful, kind of hot under the collar, and nosy as well as wrong to boot. Wow. I rest my case.— May 4, 2018 4:48 p.m.
Grandpa Irwin’s TV money
Thanks for describing what's-wrong-with-this-picture, Cassander. Some here seem to believe in political quid pro quos. The electorate, grateful for a billionaire's civic philanthropy (along with re-naming every institution touched by his largesse,) should vote his heretofore unknown 29-year old granddaughter into the United States Congress. No! Wrong! Don't do it! But why not? Because it could shred the success of highly-qualified Democratic candidate Col. Doug Applegate, a strong Democratic contender running in a crowded field for what is now an open seat. Applegate's courageous run and near-win in 2016 against powerful incumbent Rep. Darrell Issa actually caused the GOP Congressman to resign from office.— May 4, 2018 3:45 p.m.
Sara Jacobs, 29, runs for Congress
Not confusing anything. A while back you opined in these pages that we don't need to save a charming old building from demolition in North County -- that I had suggested might be used as a small theater -- because we already have enough theater venues. Look it up. Maybe you just sound like you don't think much of theater. In the spirit of benign compromise, I was considering conceding that Irwin's granddaughter was just plain unqualified, but I can't do it. She is utterly unqualified. Her recent TV ad shows footage of Barack Obama giving a stirring speech -- disgraceful brazen appropriation by association. Where are the fact-checkers?— May 4, 2018 12:47 p.m.
Manter’s rays costly to con-center ballot bid
You are right, Alex. Mine was a San Diego jerk's knee-jerk response to think only about the building trades when the word "union" comes up. You describe an admirably democratic process of how unions operate, though I think internal politics sometimes subvert the ideal you describe. Still, it is a noble model.— May 3, 2018 10:50 a.m.
San Diego State slick magazine touts Mission Valley plan
Talk about folly. We did "affordable housing" in the 1950's, I think, that over time became uninhabitable dangerous slums. Ultimately the projects were destroyed by the same public agencies that authorized them in the first place. Some were low-rise garden apartments -- like the Miami ones depicted in "Moonlight" -- and some were high-rise towers -- like Pruitt-Igoe in St. Louis, that was finally dynamited. Neither model worked. Maybe we need to work first on fixing homeless human issues instead of homeless housing issues.— May 2, 2018 2:20 p.m.
