neighborhoods/ocean-beach -- Ocean Beach
Padre had the tastiest of treats on his beach walk the other day. The Grunions had their run and left all sorts of delicious eggs buried under the sand. He had the best time digging for them, munching down, and protecting his find from the other nosy dogs. It's good to know he has those awesome survival techniques just in case we ever really need to call upon them. The last run ended on Monday and was observation only, but the next run will be June 8-11, and is open season if you too would like a snack. Be sure to bring your dog down to dog beach in Ocean Beach during the Grunion season and utilize one of natures miracles. http://www.dfg.ca.gov/marine/grunionschedule.asp#… http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/jun/0…— June 1, 2013 8:22 a.m.

Please, People of Ocean Beach and Visitors. DO NOT FEED THE WILDLIFE! This also includes dogs waiting for their owners outside a building. I can not tell you how many times I stop in to do my errands to find a well intended passer by swooping down to give my dog a treat. PLEASE DON'T TREAT A DOG UNLESS YOU ASK THE OWNER. As fast as I can hurry out to snatch it away they are gone or offended. These treats are usually harmful for my dog and he gets very very sick. (yes I have thought about making him a shirt or vest to ward off, but he is a dog, and he wont wear clothes for anybody) On one occasion a female was trying to feed him scrambled eggs from her breakfast on Newport, he was sick for a week out of both ends and almost needed vet assistance for hydration. If you are not educated about dogs, please keep your distance. I know they are cute, but they can also be dangerous to strangers and strangers can be a big danger to them. Also regarding dogs, if you see a YELLOW RIBBON anywhere on the leash or collar: DO NOT TOUCH! This color means the dog may be behaviorally aggressive in public situations. As for the 'other' wildlife being fed in OB please don't. It causes problems for business owners and patrons alike. Thank you!— May 29, 2013 2:21 p.m.
