I wonder how S.P. would feel about repealing or having a correct interpretation of the Fourteenth Amendment to stop anchor babies? Liberals love to claim that the Constitution is special and sacrosanct when applied to criminals, illegal aliens, welfare recipients, foreigners, etc. But when it comes to working US citizens, we should "tear up and throw away" a great deal of it. Too bad that this product of public schools is too ignorant or unwilling to know that the Bill of Rights, the contents therein, and even the order of the first ten Amendments, is no mistake… the Second Amendment is very literally the linchpin that holds the rest together. If we lose it, and thereby lose the ability of the people to throw off an unjust government, we'll quickly wind up with the government that the government believes we should have. Even the extreme left fringe would be upset then, but there'd be nothing left to do about it. We can quickly dispense with the rest of that silly, childish, paranoid rant by pointing out that very literally tens of millions of Americans own guns, and that those legal gun owners are rarely the criminals. The US is near the top of global "gun violence" stats, until we take out a few virulently anti-gun cities like DC, Chicago, LA… and then we're near the bottom. "Gun control" only works for repressive government and hand-wringing Utopians. It does NOT work for a free people.— December 12, 2013 12:42 p.m.

Escondido burglars sent to prison
Unfortunately, "no plea bargains" would mean every case goes to trial in our badly-overloaded legal system. Rather, we need a true three-strikes system. First offense for a crime involving violence or deprivation of property or rights, we may try to rehabilitate you. Second time, you get 20 years to think about it. Third time, life without parole. We'll be far better off building more prisons, or paying Arizona and Texas and Georgia to imprison them for us, than we will with an unending flow of antisocial thieves and rapists and muggers constantly pouring out into the streets. Lock them up and forget about them.— December 11, 2013 3:10 p.m.
Escondido burglars sent to prison
Plus, they won't be there for anything CLOSE to seven years. Unless they screwed up badly, it would be three and a half, maybe four, tops. But today, with AB109? These "non-violent offenders" will quickly be remanded to county jail and then back onto the streets. They'll be back well within two years.— December 11, 2013 3:07 p.m.
Former Filner staffer asks for $1.48 million in damages
If she wants $1.48 million, she should try to get it from Bob Filner, NOT the taxpayers of San Diego. We've done nothing wrong. We shouldn't have to pay her a cent.— December 11, 2013 3:05 p.m.

"All of these condos"? How many do you think will fit there?— December 11, 2013 2:59 p.m.
L.A. NFL stadium rivals sink big cash into Brown bid
If the taxpayers of Los Angeles want to give a free stadium to a billionaire, let them. It would be a net win for San Diegans… we keep our money, there are no more blackout dates, and anyone who really wants to shell out hundreds to attend a game is already deep enough in that a trip to LA is hardly an obstacle.— December 11, 2013 2:55 p.m.
San Diego auditor blasts city's web services
Yet another example of the fact that when you give someone a job to do, but then tell them no matter what they will not be fired or lose benefits of have their pay cut, you can't really expect much in the way of effort. There's no reason for public employees to have lifetime job guarantees. Let's take that away and tell them… "Perform, or you're gone. You have pretty good salaries, and there are hundreds of people out there who would be thrilled to apply for your job and your salary and your benefits and your pension." I know, I know… here come the whines that, "Oh, that's awful, that's heartless, it's a race to the bottom, they'll be abused and taken advantage of!" Then they are free to quit and let some other sucker take the browbeating. If they're right, and the job is oppressive, nobody's going to stay, the work won't get done, and that's a clear signal to the voters to do some of their own housecleaning.— December 11, 2013 2:52 p.m.
Stolen purse leads to arrest
"Lomax was warned by the detective that the unidentified female suspect involved in the theft may have stated that she will "go back to the source.” Lomax was cautioned to lock all her doors and windows." We need CCW issuance reform. Pretty much everywhere else in the country, Americans can legally be prepared to defend themselves. But here, the Sheriff's office has long held that the only people who are worth living through violent crimes are cops, judges, DAs, and politically-connected campaign contributions. Everyone else should dial 911, blow a rape whistle, and wait.— December 2, 2013 2:19 p.m.
Stolen purse leads to arrest
We need a REAL three-strikes law. You kill someone, injure them, steal from them, or deprive them of their rights; maybe the first time we try to rehabilitate you. The second time, you get 20 years. The third time, you're done. LWOP, period. Most crimes are committed by the same small group. Quit listening to silly whines about pieces of pizza. Lock these scum criminals up forever, and we'll all be better off.— December 2, 2013 2:17 p.m.
