Want to buy a house? Go elsewhere
OH NO, the answer is for more taxpayer-backed loans and more programs to hand out more money to more people so they can participate in the American Dream! Everyone deserves a house at the beach! Let's stop this nonsense with a measly $13 minimum wage and make it $75 an hour so everyone can buy a house!— June 23, 2014 2:55 p.m.
Children witness shooting in Tijuana
So how soon until the pleas for asylum begin, and we hear that we must bring them to the US and start writing checks? And how soon do we start hearing about how we desperately need more gun control here in the US? Obviously, Mexico doesn't have ENOUGH gun control, right? Andrew Tahmooressi faces years in prison just for having guns, which is pretty much the ultimate wish for gun-grabbers in the US. Yet somehow, Mexico is awash in "gun violence".— June 23, 2014 2:51 p.m.
Black and stopped in Utah
Sounds like the judge has it right... the detention and search were unwarranted, but there's no evidence it was racially motivated. Let's fire the cop(s) who violated basic Constitutional rights, but let's move on from these unfounded allegations of "racism" which are made for one reason, and one reason only... to collect a check from the taxpayer. The taxpayer did nothing wrong here. If the actions were wrong, hold individual(s) 100% accountable. If there is no need to fire anyone, then there's no need for the taxpayer to write a check.— June 23, 2014 2:47 p.m.
Immigrant flights from Texas to San Diego canceled
Why aren't the planes being sent to the southern part of Mexico? That's where these illegals need to be sent, not to somewhere else in the US. Why should we be paying a dime? Take them to the border crossing and push them back across.— June 23, 2014 2:41 p.m.
Agrarian’s lament
If the burden of proof aaas on government, then they would have a very hard time taking our money and property and liberty. They need money, and we must have "progress", and hands must be furiously wrung if someone complains, so therefore the burden of proving a negative must rest on the citizen. What are you, some kind of anarchist who wants us to be exactly like Somalia?— June 23, 2014 2:39 p.m.
Cops’ code of criminality attacked
Even if all of this is true, the taxpayers of San Diego did nothing wrong. Lawsuits need to be against INDIVIDUALS who performed bad deeds. We should let the public off the hook and put bad, crooked "public servants" on it, even if that means victims can't receive huge cash payouts.— June 19, 2014 4:05 p.m.
Faulty headlight, dilated pupils
There's no indication of why this story is an any way noteworthy. Are we supposed to know who Cirilo Arenas Velasco is? Or Agustin Rostras? If not... what was the point of this story? It's played out a dozen times a week.— June 19, 2014 4:03 p.m.
Yes, nightmare
"Compounding problems, Olivas, not a legal Mexican citizen, is ineligible for employment in Mexico and thus unable to work to provide for his family. His 12-year-old daughter does not have access to the special needs classes she requires and instead attends schools where lessons are given in Spanish, a language she has little grasp of." That can't be. Mexico is always insisting that there is no border, that their citizens should be free to enter and work in the US at any time, and should be able to get free health care and education. So it's impossible that they would not allow illegal aliens to work or send their kids to school to learn in their native language. Impossible!— June 19, 2014 4 p.m.
Because 1 billion is not enough
Where on Earth did the notion come from that every time money changes hands, government should get a share? By the time money winds up in my hands, it's already been taxed many times. If I then want to give it to someone else, an heir, a family member, whatever, there's government with those greedy paws out, demanding more. I bet many of the people who cheer someone else being forced to pay will complain the loudest and most bitterly when they're trying to give orr receive a gift, and all of a sudden taxes are too high and should be lowered... but only for me, not for those greedy SOBs who have more than I do!— June 18, 2014 1:32 p.m.
ow playing at AMC Theat
Life is too short to waste time at cheap, lowbrow theaters catering to the lowest common denominator. I'll pay a few bucks more and go to a place where I can enjoy myself.— June 18, 2014 1:25 p.m.
