Alarm among Americans
Oh my God, this is OUTRAGEOUS! Nothing like this ever happens in the US! Mexico is a terrible place. I'm sure the Mexican police are in on this... they're probably related to the killers, and I'm sure they looted the house while pretending to investigate. Right after their siesta.— October 27, 2014 1:23 p.m.
Gladiator outfit over the line in Hillcrest
" They say that officers can see more skin on any given day at the beach than what Walters was showing the night he was arrested. The only difference, contends the defense, Walters is gay." Well, there is another difference... Walters wasn't at the beach. Sorry, but there are differences in standards. You can't show up to a lot of places with your rear end exposed. Just because you can at the beach doesn't mean my work has to let me show up wearing chaps and nothing else. I very much doubt this has anything to do with his sexual orientation. Show me a straight fetishist parade where straight guys in the same outfit get a pass, and then we'll see an indication of a problem.— October 27, 2014 1:15 p.m.
No Central American teens in their backyard
Ahh, more empty cries of "Racism/Wolf!" by those who have no facts on their side. If this was to be a detention facility for white criminal minors, we'd be just as opposed. Many of these "unaccompanied minors" are tattooed gang members who are involved with cartels and have committed horrific acts in their home countries. All of them need to be deported. It has nothing to do with "race", it has to do with the simple fact that THEY DO NOT BELONG HERE. We cannot absorb all of the poverty in the world, or even any significant fraction of it. Google "Immigration Gumballs"— October 16, 2014 11:48 a.m.
Remembering my first, “Hey! Shut up and watch the movie!”
Don't go. You'll save your time and money while sparing everyone else who wants to see the movie. It's a win-win.— October 15, 2014 1:41 p.m.
Deported veterans help deported moms

Deported U.S. military veterans activate in Tijuana
Oh, slag off, you self-righteous, pompous buffoon. There is no requirement for anyone to have joined the military in order to be permitted an opinion. If you served, you sure as heck didn't learn anything about respect, manners, or what America is all about. If you want a seat at the table where men are talking, how about starting by using your name like Dan did?— October 15, 2014 1:27 p.m.
Rockin’ party bus rolls to Tecate’s Casa Vinicola Ulloa
I'm left a little unclear... is this trip by "Let's Go Clandestino", or was that just a reference? This sounds like a lot of fun.— October 15, 2014 1:21 p.m.
Second Chance finds jobs for San Diego ex-cons
If someone is a threat to society, they should be in prison. If we're releasing someone from prison, they should be 100% free to rejoin society with no scarlet A branded on their forehead. They should be able to vote, buy a gun, hold any job, etc. If there is some "risk" in them doing any of those things, see the first sentence. It's always seemed silly to me to even pretend that prison is a place for rehabilitation when those who leave can never actually get a second chance. If prison is supposed to be purely retributive, punitive, or preventative; then keep felons locked up forever. If there's supposed to be rehabilitation, then we have to actually see if that's worked. If they screw it up a second time, then yeah, throw the book at them. Some people cannot stop committing crimes, and anyone who's already committed two crimes of violence or deprivation of rights or property should get life without parole, period. But if we're letting someone out, then let them all the way out.— October 15, 2014 1:15 p.m.
Pull!
Darn, I was hoping this would be a new gun club near San Diego...— October 15, 2014 1:07 p.m.
Raze the arena?
Apparently, at least one option for a Chargers stadium is, in fact, "off the table". That being, HAVE THE CHARGERS PAY FOR IT! Public funding of sports venues is ALWAYS a loser for the taxpayer. But politicians still clamor for ways to give away our money to wealthy professional sports team owners. They love to tell us about jobs, infrastructure, revenue... but they always conveniently ignore that we never get anything close to our "investment" back in the lifespan of the stadium in question. How long would a new stadium be considered "viable" before the Chargers were crying that it's too old and the NFL is saying it would be unthinkable to have another Superbowl there? We'd be money ahead if the Chargers left... but, strangely, despite their threatening to do so for years, they aren't going anywhere. So why, exactly, do we need to agree to give them hundreds of millions of dollars to beg them to stay?— October 15, 2014 9:54 a.m.
