Who owns the embryos?
She could have frozen her own eggs at any time she wanted. This was the right call... it's morally wrong to make the dude the father of some kid when he doesn't want to be involved, especially in CA where he automatically becomes liable for support.— December 17, 2015 8:45 a.m.
"There are too many people like him in San Diego"
On Groupon: If it's such a terrible deal, don't do it. There, problem solved!— December 16, 2015 7:52 a.m.
Dog bites owner, both reportedly arrested
Oooohhh, boo hoo hoo! You don't like Coronado or me??? However will I survive? Don't worry, chucklehead, I won't be moving to Bum Beach any time soon. You'll be safe.— December 16, 2015 7:50 a.m.
Dog bites owner, both reportedly arrested
Why does "traveller kid" sound like "worthless, drug-addicted, panhandling bum"?— December 15, 2015 1:03 p.m.
Check 'n Go checks out of North Park
So we can have the taxpayer eat the losses?!?!?! The interest rate for payday loans is so high because so many borrowers default, and there really isn't anything you can do to them if they just don't pay. So you have to make a bucket off of the ones who DO pay. Having the government take over and loan for less just means the taxpayer will be taking it in the shorts. Government already hands out enough money.— December 14, 2015 8:51 a.m.
Mixed reviews on new Clairemont bicycle lanes
"Riding around the county, I can't count a single time that I have not had an incident of cars being too close, too fast, or exhibiting some kind of aggressive behavior." Because you're in the fricking road, in their fricking way! They're trying to get around you to get moving, you dumb putz! They aren't out looking for cyclists to hate on, they just want to get to their jobs and their families and their lives, but you're puttering along and stopping them from doing that! If it "isn't safe" to ride, STOP RIDING ON THAT ROAD! You cannot force the rest of the world to plod along at your pace so you can feel better. One day, you will wind up being run over, and you can blather about how "right" you were... if you survive. There's a time and a place for bicycles, and a busy city street is never the place or time.— December 11, 2015 11:38 a.m.
Mixed reviews on new Clairemont bicycle lanes
I have never understood why valuable road space is reserved for a tiny fraction of a percent of the population, and a fraction that chooses to use a mode of transportation that is nothing but an enormous safety hazard and obstruction for everyone else. Bikes cannot keep up with the flow of traffic, and it makes ZERO sense to encourage them to ride in main traffic lanes. It's also stunningly rare to see a cyclist obey any road or traffic laws... they routinely blow through any traffic control measure ("I have to keep my momentum!"). We need to be banning bikes from main thoroughfares. Bikes should be kept to quiet side streets. If that means a couple of people have to start driving again, oh well... far better that than keeping thousands of cars idling along, polluting and wasting gas, because some selfish jackhole has decided that his right to pedal along at 8 MPH trumps everyone else's right to get on with their lives.— December 11, 2015 11:33 a.m.
One-man McDonald's protest
"Nicholson showed me his Facebook page, on his iPhone 5, where his grievances are listed." He can pay for an iPhone and the $100 bill that goes along with it, but can't manage to get a job? And he's eating at McDonalds every day??? A perfect demonstration of what the actual problem is. I have zero sympathy, and if I'm ever in the area I'll stop there and brush past his stupid sign just to make a point. Un-freaking-believable.— December 11, 2015 11:28 a.m.
One-man McDonald's protest
Restaurants have gotten tired of homeless locking themselves in the bathroom for 30 minutes and leaving a stinking mess behind. I'm all for the locks that require a key or token, and now they have ones with a numeric code. Restaurants are not a "public service". They're private property that exist to make money. Someone hunched down in the dining room stinking and muttering to themselves is costing them money. You go in, you order, you pay, you eat, you leave. That's how it works. It's sad that the signs and locks and rules are necessary, but they are. McDonalds cannot fix homelessness, they're there to make money for their owners (while paying employees and suppliers, which is a far greater "social good" than any protester has ever managed).— December 11, 2015 11:25 a.m.
The Queen Mary's Sir Winston's smoking deck
If they're wrong, they'll go out of business. And you're always free to start your own hotel / restaurant / attraction that will price goods and services in a manner you feel is "correct". If you're right, you'll make a lot of money! As for me, one day I'd love to stay there and try Sir Winston's. I expect I'll pay far more than $60. C'est la vie.— December 11, 2015 11:17 a.m.
