Councilman Kersey quiet
I bet the people who are screeching about cell towers and getting cancer from them have an enormous overlap with the people complaining about how bad cell coverage is and how the evil, greedy cellular companies won't spend money for upgrades.— December 23, 2015 8:37 a.m.
Larcenous audiophile crosses Pitbull
Oh, well, if the thief "apologizes", all is good. I'm sure he won't do it again. He isn't sorry he did it... he's sorry he got caught.— December 23, 2015 8:28 a.m.
Chula Vista condo plan misses mark again
And anyone who identifies themselves as a "Something-American", where the "Something" comes first, is no kind of real American. If your primary allegiance is to Mexico, go there. "Mexican" is not a "race" or ethnicity, it's a nationality. And I thought we were supposed to be color-blind, equal, that "race" wasn't supposed to be taken into account? Why is it that the people who say that when I'm perceived to have some kind of benefit are the first to turn around and yell as loudly as they can about skin color when there's a benefit they can grab by doing so?— December 22, 2015 7:42 a.m.
Chula Vista condo plan misses mark again
511 square feet? That's one incredibly tiny shop.— December 22, 2015 7:36 a.m.
Palomar Card Club's string of bad luck
If it "can't be tolerated", why can't you quit to get away from it? What if other people want to tolerate it? Why can't they have their little sandbox and do whatever they want? What happens when you offend someone, and it's decided that you can't do or say something? I've never stayed at a job where I felt there were problems. Why should I have a right to stay and demand that the environment conform to me?— December 19, 2015 4:02 p.m.
'Tis the season to be nasty
I love Armstrong and Getty, partially because they'll say things that give delicate constitutions fits! I'm sorry I missed this segment. And for all the boo-hoo-hooers out there... what, precisely, is the harm they've caused? Are people becoming homeless, or refusing to stop becoming homeless, because of their words? Any time someone starts bleating about how "offended" they are that someone else said something, it quickly becomes clear to me who's in the right. Don't like 'em? Don't listen to them. Go out and volunteer, or give your money or something. But quit pretending that everyone else is the bad guy or to blame for not lining up behind your priorities.— December 19, 2015 3:59 p.m.
Palomar Card Club's string of bad luck
If she was so offended, why didn't she quit? I'm sick and tired of people who expect paydays because someone said something mean to them. I hope the Feds wind up with all the money; and that she gets an empty, unenforceable judgment against a bankrupt company.— December 18, 2015 1:16 p.m.
Clairemont corner eyesore
It seems nuts to me that he wouldn't be operating the gas station. That's no way to make money, but combined with a convenience store, he could be generating some kind of net revenue from this location. I can't picture how many other gas stations are nearby in my mind, but that's a good location. The City could clean up the property, send him a bill, and if he doesn't pay attach a lien. Do that two or three more times, then go to court to force a sale to satisfy the lien. I'm a huge opponent of government overreach, but these guys are kind of asking for it.— December 17, 2015 6:01 p.m.
Escondido gas to cost less than $2/gallon?
Oh, and don't forget that 7-11 gas is Citgo, which is owned by the Venezuelan national oil company. Buying from them supports a brand of Socialism that even Barack Obama isn't ready to try to foist upon us.— December 17, 2015 8:57 a.m.
Escondido gas to cost less than $2/gallon?
So, where are all the cries about how the evil, greedy oil companies are screwing us? Why aren't they screwing us today, but tomorrow if gas goes up a nickel the bleats and whines about the greatest injustice in the world start up? And, of course, the ueful idiots never want to acknowledge that we have some of the highest gas prices in the nation for one reason, and one reason only... government. Between the excessive taxes they levy against gas and the costs of all the regulations and taxes they levy against the refineries, Sacramento is solely responsible for the disparity between CA and everywhere else. But it's easier to keep electing Democrats and blaming Republicans, isn't it?— December 17, 2015 8:55 a.m.
