Green Elementary assault trial starts today
The attackers and the incompetent principal should be the ones facing this lawsuit, not the taxpayer. All public entities should be 100% immune from lawsuits, and all allegations of wrongful deeds should be faced by the wrongdoers, not the deepest pockets.— January 31, 2017 1:32 p.m.
Trader Joe narrowly avoids disaster
I wonder if she felt badly enough to pay for the damage. I'm guessing not.— January 31, 2017 1:29 p.m.
NFL’s nastiest word
Dean Spanos isn't a "cheapskate". He just isn't that wealthy. Most of the Spanos family's net worth is the valuation of the Chargers. They're paupers among the other NFL owners.— January 27, 2017 8:53 a.m.
Trump goes to trade war with Mexico
He knows he did. Labor unions, on top of being wrong about so many other things, believe that repealing NAFTA will bring this tide of good-paying union manufacturing jobs back to the US and good days will be here again!— January 27, 2017 8:51 a.m.
Trump goes to trade war with Mexico
The stock market didn't blip because everyone knows this isn't going to happen.— January 27, 2017 8:49 a.m.
Customs stopped me in San Ysidro as a sex offender
Remember this next time you want to vote for more government. I've never understood the reasoning behind the "sex offender" registry. "OK, we've got this guy, he's a really bad guy, he's going to do awful things one day because he's accused of doing... something... in the past. But we don't want to put him in prison for life! No sirree, that would be a violation of his rights! So, what we'll do is, brand a scarlet 'A' on his forehead and then send him out into society! That way, he'll be certain to learn his lesson and not do bad things again!" If someone is a threat to society, they belong in a cell. If they're deemed to have "paid their debt" and to not be a threat any longer, we should let them go completely.— January 27, 2017 8:48 a.m.
Car-creeper suspect disrupted
We need CCW issuance reform.— January 18, 2017 8 a.m.
Ambitious slack-liners under O.B. Pier
Why does the writer assume every reader is going to know what "slacklining" is?— January 18, 2017 7:59 a.m.
Ever-changing gun laws
One of the problems with public shooting ranges... you never know who's there. Years and years ago, I was at a range where a group of Japanese exchange students were having a grand ol' time. One fired off some enormous hand-cannon and went staggering back, waving it all over the place right next to me. If it wasn't a single-shot, I'd have disarmed him. I miss the NRA range in Fairfax... the slightest hint of stupidity and they'll throw you out. I also miss the Sheriff's range on Camp Elliott. I saw them toss people out for careless weapon handling. IPSC shoots are also much safer, fewer people with a bigger investment. Been a while since I did that.— January 12, 2017 12:19 p.m.
Wells Fargo’s wheels are falling off the stagecoach
Excellent piece! Propping up bad, failing banks was the worst thing we could have done. We should have taken our medicine eight years ago.— January 12, 2017 9:02 a.m.
