Romance for Saturday
The notion of "interactive romance fiction" where you choose your own parameters for a story is very interesting! Sounds kind of like a mashup of role playing/Dungeons & Dragons-style "choose your adventure" games and, well, softcore Cinemax. Thanks for posting this, it fired up my curiosity --

RIP Jonathan Frid: His Final Barnabas Collins Performance
It's fan-made, compiling clips from the Sci-Fi channel screenings of the show - that's why the network logo jumps around and zooms in and out, from assembling shots from different episodes and sometimes zooming in and out, to make the motions fit the beats of the music. The same fan posted several other DS vids, but this particular one is (IMHO) the best of the batch!

A Scribe Amidst the Lions Will Write Whatever They Want to Write
Outtakes: WHAT SCARES YOU? Jacobs: “Bee stings. I’ve never been stung, and I’ve never been tested to see if I’m allergic, so the possibility that it would be fatal is both thrilling and terrifying.” WHO DO PEOPLE SAY YOU LOOK LIKE? Hams: “Before I broke my glasses, I got the singer from Weezer, but I’m at least a foot taller than that guy.” Jacobs: “If I grow out my beard and wear a sports coat, the singer from the National. If I shave down to a stubble, and I’m wearing a beanie and a zip-up sweater – which I do! -- then Chris Martin of Coldplay.” WHAT WOULD YOU TELL THE YOUNGER YOU? Roquero: “I would tell myself to keep looking to the future for all of the answers.” YOUR MOST-PLAYED DVD? Towne: “Enter the Dragon. This movie set the stage for a thousand wanna-be Bruce Lees, including me when I was twelve.” Jacobs: “The Incredibles. I like superheroes.” WORST INJURY? Hams: “Once, when I was about four or five, I slipped off the bathroom counter and cracked my chin open. I still have the scar.” SOUNDTRACK OF YOUR LIFE? Roquero: “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked, by Cage the Elephant. The lyrics go ‘Oh, there ain’t no rest for the wicked, money don’t grow on trees, I got bills to pay a mouths to feed, there ain’t nothing in this world for free.’” Hams: “My story was actually made into an off-Broadway musical called No Mayo. It did terribly.”

Suggestion Box
I just now noticed another suggestion has been implemented - the "search" function can now be narrowed down to searching within the past 24 hours, past week, past month, past six months, past year, or any time. As someone who uses the search bar a lot, I'm thrilled that I no longer need to scroll thru dozens -- or even hundreds -- of results when looking for a specific topic, reference, or name on the website.

Pony Death Ride -- I think my boyfriend's gay for Morrissey
"He wears a Smiths shirt every time that we make love...." Ha, this is great!
— April 13, 2012 8:13 p.m.
Mario Quintero and Black Box Studio
Outtakes: SOUNDTRACK OF YOUR LIFE? “We Built This City, by Starship. [Lyric sample] ‘Don’t you remember, we built this city on rock and roll.’” ANY FEARS OR PHOBIAS? “I’m not big on drowning.” YOUR MOST UNIQUE PHYSICAL FEATURE? “I can’t bend my thumbs forward like most people.” WHO DO PEOPLE SAY YOU LOOK LIKE? “Unfortunately, the only ones I’ve gotten are Kevin Costner, Adam Sandler, and Pauly Shore. I mean, what the f#ck. Really?” DO YOU BELIEVE IN MAGIC? “Only voodoo.”

Hard Rock Gives It Away Now
Aha, the secret's out! The Hard Rock Hotel hasn't advertised these free Soundcheck shows, and reporters were originally asked not to publicize. To find out about these shows, all you need to do is get on the emailing lists for the Hard Rock Hotel or Filter and you'll get the announcements, usually around two to three weeks in advance of the events.

Suggestion Box
I've put in my own request for "View 50 Most Recent Comments" to be reinstated - I don't think WebAdmin will mind me sharing this correspondence about it. Feel free to post your own replies to below, especially their query "Why would you WANT to see older comments?" JAS: RE the COMMENTS POD - Hasn’t anyone noticed that the mainpage comments displayed are FOUR DAYS OLD?? Shouldn’t only the newest comments be on the mainpage? I thought at first that nobody has commented on the entire Reader website for four days. I doubt advertisers are impressed by that! WEBADMIN REPLY: We decided not to have the most recent comments display on the homepage anymore because there's no telling what the most recent comment(s) could be -- spam, libel, etc. Instead we're taking the "most popular" story (meaning the most commented) and displaying those comments. Unfortunately, that can sometimes mean that the comments aren't so fresh. JAS: I do like the way the Comments pod links are broken down into “Blog” comments, “Story” comments, and “All” comments. I wish I could view OLDER comments, instead of just what comes up as most recent, but that’s a minor quibble. Only the last coupla hours show – no way to add an “older comments” link? WEBADMIN REPLY: There's a way. But before we go to that work, lemme ask you *why* you would want to see comments that are even older? Are you looking for something specific?
— April 7, 2012 10:41 p.m.
Suggestion Box
I know WebAdmin is still eagerly going over all suggestions and are welcoming of more - it just takes awhile to get a "yay" or a "nay" on any changes implemented, as there are several people making the decisions, and then the technical know-how-to sometimes has to be worked out. I've seen several major revisions to the new site template based on reader feedback and suggestions, and several more website tweaks and improvements are pending -

Mikan Zlatkovich on Jazz
I really enjoy the conversational flow of this! Feels like sitting down and chatting with one of the local masters --

Romance for Saturday
The notion of "interactive romance fiction" where you choose your own parameters for a story is very interesting! Sounds kind of like a mashup of role playing/Dungeons & Dragons-style "choose your adventure" games and, well, softcore Cinemax. Thanks for posting this, it fired up my curiosity --— April 21, 2012 11:17 p.m.
The same fan posted several other DS vids, but this particular one is (IMHO) the best of the batch!— April 21, 2012 12:33 a.m.
It did terribly.”— April 18, 2012 11:54 a.m.
Suggestion Box
I just now noticed another suggestion has been implemented - the "search" function can now be narrowed down to searching within the past 24 hours, past week, past month, past six months, past year, or any time. As someone who uses the search bar a lot, I'm thrilled that I no longer need to scroll thru dozens -- or even hundreds -- of results when looking for a specific topic, reference, or name on the website.— April 14, 2012 8:05 p.m.
Pony Death Ride -- I think my boyfriend's gay for Morrissey
"He wears a Smiths shirt every time that we make love...." Ha, this is great!— April 13, 2012 8:13 p.m.
“Only voodoo.”— April 11, 2012 1:24 p.m.
Hard Rock Gives It Away Now
Aha, the secret's out! The Hard Rock Hotel hasn't advertised these free Soundcheck shows, and reporters were originally asked not to publicize. To find out about these shows, all you need to do is get on the emailing lists for the Hard Rock Hotel or Filter and you'll get the announcements, usually around two to three weeks in advance of the events.— April 11, 2012 4:56 a.m.
Are you looking for something specific?— April 7, 2012 10:41 p.m.
Suggestion Box
I know WebAdmin is still eagerly going over all suggestions and are welcoming of more - it just takes awhile to get a "yay" or a "nay" on any changes implemented, as there are several people making the decisions, and then the technical know-how-to sometimes has to be worked out. I've seen several major revisions to the new site template based on reader feedback and suggestions, and several more website tweaks and improvements are pending -— April 7, 2012 6:55 p.m.
Mikan Zlatkovich on Jazz
I really enjoy the conversational flow of this! Feels like sitting down and chatting with one of the local masters --— April 6, 2012 5:51 p.m.
