The Golden Boy of SD Developers Todd Gloria Announces Re-Election Bid
I dont even know. You can see how much work it was for me to extract these because I had to go in and get each one individually. So at 1 point I said, OK this is enough. This is astounding. I got the info at the Center for Policy Initiatives which does a brilliant job at tracking donations. I just wish the database had been sortable so I simply could have sorted all the developer donations and copied and pasted but it was alot more work than that. Trust me there are alot more.— June 21, 2011 3:30 p.m.
Big-Time Lawyer-Lobbyist Headlines Dumanis Campaign Fundraiser
thank you Matt!!! This woman is about as bad as any human being can get and unless we address our election fraud here in SD she will win this race.— June 20, 2011 3:54 p.m.
More Questions for the United Way in Their Involvement in CCDC Sponsored "Registry Week"
the 469 for Lesar is very troubling. I worked in the field of forensic architecture for 7 years dealing w/ lawyers and BS invoices and the language she is using to describe her work is total BS. I know what she is doing. She is essentially copying and pasting the study she did for downtown LA on homelessness and using that for SD. She has developed this template that she can use for any city. She gets the volunteers to collect all the data...which is where all the work is and then has volunteers enter the data into a database and then compiles all that free labor into a report. In my experience in forensics we would have huge databases w/ 6000 entries. (and its similar because we were the architectural experts in litigation cases where we would also compile reports). All the work was in gathering the data and entering the data and LeSar has volunteers doing all that. The report is easy. The database software practically does the report for you especially since she has already done it. And if what she is doing is so challenging it just means we need to fire the people on the housing commission and hire new qualified people because this is THEIR job. I suspect this was just a sneaky way to get HUGE illegal campaign contributions for Atkins for Assembly from Redevelopment developers and places like CCDC that need the gravy train to continue. And if LeSar is such an expert and so good at what she does she would be able to point to some successes. She wont tell you WHAT her 3 billion dollars worth of projects were.— June 19, 2011 10:49 p.m.
Did the United Way Commit Tax Fraud When it Collected Donations for CCDC Sponsored "Registry Week"?
They should also examine the donations via the United Way to see if any were large donations from campaign contributors of Toni Atkins. This framework sets up a very easy way for people to funnel illegal campaign contributions to Atkins since Atkins is the contact and since the donations are being written to "Registry Week: Finance". and since "Registry Week is being run by her spouse.— June 17, 2011 8:40 p.m.
Did the United Way Commit Tax Fraud When it Collected Donations for CCDC Sponsored "Registry Week"?
the "public/private partnership" is working so well w/ War. I like to say LDC is the Haliburton of Homelessness. They are so eager to serve the country and then send us an invoice for millions of dollars. And if LeSar "solves" homelessness the way she did "affordable housing" we are in big trouble. Lets be honest, LeSar background is an investment banker for B of A...she was Treasurer for CCDC. What do you think happens when you mix an investment banker w/ a non-profit? all sorts of "creative" ways to move $ around. The private development market has dried up so LeSar has taken her experience as an investment banker and developed new, innovative and creative ways to syphon tax dollars and now private donations. Personally I think it is beyond contemptible to pose as a champion for the poor while you are using funds that legitimately could have been used to help them to make yourself rich.— June 17, 2011 3:32 p.m.
Did the United Way Commit Tax Fraud When it Collected Donations for CCDC Sponsored "Registry Week"?
"a different way of working on this issue"...boy does that sound like a PR line. lets solve the issue by funneling tax dollars and private donations to a private for-profit company that has no experience or background dealing w/ a sociological problem like homelessness. Do you not see the OBVIOUS issue here? The "for-profit" has NO vested interest in "solving" the problem. Their vested interest is in MAKING money. And the absurd amount LDC was paid should be reason enough to pull the rug, but you are saying "trust us, we will do the right thing".— June 17, 2011 3:24 p.m.
Mid-City Rapid Transit: A Rapid Waste: NOT What We Voted For!
Great comments guys. Thanks. I didnt know that the legislation requires bikes and peds...that may also be grounds for the neighborhood to fight it. Also I am thinking we should attack the federal funding by reporting this to the government accountability office as an example of gross waste and abuse. Plus as I said the 6 minutes are gained by timing the lights which would cost almost nothing. Park Blvd is already a very non-congested street. The biggest problem w/ Park is it is far too wide to make it pedestrian friendly. The real solution should be to make the center media even wider and better landscaped creating safe cross-walks. In order to make Park more ped friendly and better for business you need to slow traffic down and you do that by narrowing the street and making it a more aesthetically pleasing experience so people will walk. I would even construct a bike lane between the parking along Park and the street. Landscaping, landscaping, landscaping is what it needs. For 43 million dollars you could do SOOO much to make this a truly great street that people would walk.— June 3, 2011 3:46 p.m.
Mid-City Rapid Transit: A Rapid Waste: NOT What We Voted For!
Good point about how the lanes will be empty between routes. 1 more reason this plan just plain sucks. No respectable City Planner would endorse this plan. I took Urban Planning courses in Architecture school and if I presented this solution in a studio class I would receive an "F". The jurors would just annihilate this notion that I had created "smart planning" w/ this. The whole idea of Urban Planning is to build cities that make people get out of their cars and walk and ride bikes and take transit. This plan takes all those pedestrians and bikers and puts them in their cars and makes the street too intimidating to navigate any other way.— June 3, 2011 3:40 p.m.
Our Lady of Peace Bullies City Council
great story! Thank you for writing about this. I wanted to hear what happened. Yes this would be terrible precedent. So in the end how did each council member vote?— April 19, 2011 2:38 p.m.
