Ed Brand’s time at Sweetwater is over
Surely, one thing that has been realized is that this district cannot do what it did on prior occasions, such as Trujillo and Brand first time around: the district and caretaker board should not "let it go". We need everyone to learn the lesson the hard way, apparently--open up the books, expose all the real estate and any other deals out there. Sad to say, the district sends the wrong message if there are no consequences. Especially when one considers all the angles that Ed Brand has played all along.— July 3, 2014 7:06 p.m.
Ed Brand’s time at Sweetwater is over
I can't imagine they are thinking that hiring Tim Glover will make things "blow over", but that hiring Tim Glover will allow a reasonable person to evaluate the enormous, convoluted mess that Brand has left behind. It will take digging, and that independent forensic audit that Mayor Cox mentioned at the board meeting.— July 3, 2014 7:02 p.m.
Ed Brand’s time at Sweetwater is over
Yes, I read this in the KPBS article. Boggles the mind that McCann comes up with this stuff.— July 3, 2014 6:12 p.m.
Mystery assault in front of Fry's Electronics
Mr. Saikali, I hope that you are able to find some help in researching the individuals who set upon you. Documenting more than one case should certainly bring much-needed attention to what has happened, and force SDPD into at least responding to you in an above-board manner.— July 3, 2014 3:30 p.m.
Beachfront Benghazi?
I just hope Romney is aware of the bill supporting beachfront access for the general citizenry...— July 3, 2014 1:50 p.m.
Ed Brand’s time at Sweetwater is over
Naming Tim Glover the interim superintendent of Sweetwater is an excellent decision. He is a thoughtful, well-educated and highly ethical individual who will, no doubt, provide the necessary leadership to propel Sweetwater forward. Welcome aboard, Mr. Glover, and may you bring clarity, honesty and good judgment to Sweetwater, characteristics that have been sorely lacking.— July 2, 2014 11:50 p.m.
Mystery assault in front of Fry's Electronics
The scenario you describe--a "set-up"--is exactly what I was thinking. One would think that it would be in the interest of merchants, corporate heads and local law enforcement to act in such a manner as to discourage assault and attempted extortion. In addition, I would hope that San Diego Police would be a bit smarter about this sort of thing. I have no legal training of any kind, but as an informal student of human behavior, what I am concluding is that this pair might have some aliases and they very well might do this sort of thing for a living.— July 2, 2014 3 p.m.
Mystery assault in front of Fry's Electronics
My question would be, does the couple involved have any history of this type of behavior? Because it would seem to be very unusual, and possibly indicative of prior history.— July 2, 2014 1:39 p.m.
SD's for-profit colleges devour GI Bill bucks
Easier to track GI Bill dollars?— July 2, 2014 1:16 a.m.
Ed Brand’s time at Sweetwater is over
Ahhh, I think we may be back to David Malcolm.— July 1, 2014 3:52 p.m.
