McCann's plan a sham?
This isn't the first time a thought has occurred to me regarding McCann and his near-obsession with calling on lawyers at the slightest provocation...it is as if he were a 6-year-old child, running to teacher or mommy, "They're being mean to me, it isn't fair!!". Thin-skinned, doesn't keep promises, makes claims for accomplishments that he had nothing to do with--will someone please tell me why John McCann thinks he should hold public office? He has yet to do ONE THING for the public--in how many years? 10, if you count city council and the Sweetwater board? So, he is the toy of the developers, yet managed to stay out of the courts and the headlines. Wonder what kind of deal that was.— October 18, 2014 10:26 a.m.
Finale or interlude?
It would have to be a very broad farce. So that even the music would need to be referential, with plays on music as there are plays on words. But, that is merely my opinion.— October 18, 2014 8:06 a.m.
Finale or interlude?
Yes, I have heard of this, and know that you referenced this once before, which is why it might be fun to play with it. I very much doubt I would be the person to write the lyrics or the music. Maybe the jokey synopsis! I hope there are some people out there with "wheels turning". What could be better than San Diego's own opera, about the imbroglio at the opera?— October 17, 2014 11:11 p.m.
Finale or interlude?
How about something called "The Impresario's Escape"? Which it may or may not be.— October 17, 2014 8:19 a.m.
McCann's plan a sham?
I have noticed that there are no comments on the McCann article in the online UT--which does make sense, because I am sure McCann would be taking names. If he had spent a minute percentage of time actually doing something positive, maybe he wouldn't be so completely disreguarded as a candidate. As it is, he is all about self-promotion, followed by more self-promotion. I did love one comment I saw on the 10 news story (pretty sure it was that one). It went something like this: In order for your character to be maligned, you first need to have character. Yes, that is it.— October 17, 2014 8:15 a.m.
Could Brown reappoint unpopular Peevey?
Evolutionary or devolutionary?— October 15, 2014 10:09 p.m.
Raze the arena?
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know the technical term for the vertical ridges that appear on the exterior of both the Sports Arena and the Civic Theater? Must have been some sort of mid-century Brutalist trend, or am I off-base? Rather unattractive, to my way of thinking. Is there a way to improve things such as this with landscaping?— October 15, 2014 10:06 p.m.
McCann's plan a sham?
The cancer in Sweetwater and perhaps by extension in Chula Vista is giving every indication that it is difficult to eradicate.— October 15, 2014 7:13 p.m.
McCann's plan a sham?
I have to admit, I do use 125 going north, as it cuts out a good ten minutes of highway time. I have used it going south only a couple of times. McCann's promise that he will make it free makes no sense. If he can arrange that, who would he be indebted to? More distraction and nonsense from a purveyor of distraction, nonsense and serial untruths.— October 15, 2014 8:30 a.m.
McCann's plan a sham?
McCann is sprinkling pixie dust again!! I think we are immune to his ploys by now--or at least most of us are. While I am seeing a McCann sign on the occasional lawn, the numbers seem way down. Really, his biggest accomplishment is not getting indicted? Just like the character in Guys & Dolls, "Big Julie from Chicago", who claimed he had gone straight, because he didn't have any convictions? Well, we all really know what McCann's greatest accomplishment has been in his time as a trustee of Sweetwater: elevating the level of insincerity to stratosphere as he pretends to care about this community. How could he possibly have cared the slightest while voting the Gandara/Brand line, creating the unholy triumvirate of Ricasa, Cartmill and McCann, so that whatever bogus scheme was drummed up, would be passed. Government by cabal, That's what McCann represents. He certainly does not represent the people of this district/city.— October 14, 2014 5:57 p.m.
