Papa Doug selling Rhode Island mansion
You are right, as usual!! Any news on that project?— November 14, 2015 10:48 a.m.
Chula Vista goes all 21st Century
Well, my oh my. Let me peer into the past. When those pesky activists (who had obviously watched far too many episodes of Scooby Doo in their respective childhoods) just wouldn't let the issue of campaign reform of Sweetwater Union High School District go, it was obvious that there were obstructionist elements on that school board. Those obstructionist elements introduced a bizarre ruling that if an issue had been voted on and voted down by the school board, it could not be reintroduced for a long period of time--one to two years, I forget the exact detail. But--one person was very much in favor of burying all attempts to work on campaign finance reform, and that person was John McCann. That attempt worked for a while, but eventually, those pesky activists got some controls installed. Looks like McCann is again not thrilled with the idea of producing information on all those who have donated to him and his campaigns. Why wouldn't he be proud of his friends? What could the problem be? Is it those pesky activists again?— November 14, 2015 8:15 a.m.
Goliath will shrug
All this is what has been called "a stinging indictment" of all those involved. Except there is no indictment. Which is a crying shame. We can't let this go. Even though other news takes over the airwaves and the headlines, this mess remains, and if the nuclear waste does get "buried" close to the shoreline, we are only asking for further real problems. To put it mildly, this is not how a reasonable representative government should be acting. This is the decision-making of political expediency, with no thought to environmental, moral and even legal issues. Why not just build a children's playground over the nuclear waste site, with jumpy houses that can wear away the sand that will cover the nuclear waste? It makes about as much sense as what they are doing.— November 14, 2015 8:07 a.m.

Sempra’s generosity
Sempra: Providing first-rate pampering to politicos, ensuring high rates for rate-payers. What more could any of us ask for?— November 12, 2015 1:19 p.m.
Governor's future not as big as Texas
I guess Gov. Brown was hoping for a windfall.— November 9, 2015 8:31 a.m.
$2612 Hertz tab marks mayor's DC stay
Probably an extra-large SUV, and most likely then didn't bother with comparing prices. "I'll take the biggest you've got--and I won't refill the gas, either!"— November 6, 2015 10:47 a.m.
Chula Vista schools' east side–west side divide
As far as I can recall, Sweetwater is still trying to reconcile funds that were spent from Mello-Roos sources for schools and various items that are outside the strictures of Mello-Roos stipulations. So--it would be nice to hear the result of that, and know what will be done with the funds that should have been spent on east side schools in the first place.— November 4, 2015 8:43 p.m.
Chula Vista considers all-mail voting
Problem being that Mr. Vu doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the entire category of mail-in ballots. Why is it that I feel that the vote would be all too easily manipulated?— November 4, 2015 8:38 p.m.
Development-crazy on Chula Vista's west side
Excellent ideas. By the way, I still think the idea you had about a new Cal Poly being built in Chula Vista is very good. I hope it is being taken up by those who can make things happen.— November 4, 2015 12:40 p.m.
