It's not the LAT that is bidding, it's Tribune Publishing, which owns LAT. According to the Ken Doctor article cited in the story, published on 3-3, Lynch says he is "submitting a new bid this week". Burkle has tried to by a paper before, the LAT attempt comes to mind, so maybe such an alliance is not so unlikely, especially when considering Lynch is Dougie's fair haired boy and has reportedly encouraged Lynch to buy the company himself.— March 5, 2015 4:15 p.m.

I had read that the deal would be exclusive of the UT real estate. I don't find a mention of that in the article. Has that changed?? How about the other potential suitor, the odd couple of John Lynch and Ron Burkle. I don't see a mention of them either. Have they fallen by the wayside?— March 5, 2015 1:38 p.m.

Just a quick thought or two. Despite the Spanos clan having around $200million not tied up in the Chargers, a figure I believe Don Bauder got from Forbes, I would doubt that they have more than 10% of that in cash, if that much. So the question is who is going to loan them $500-$750 million for a stadium? They can't use the team as collateral on a loan even close to that; NFL bylaws won't let them. And those same bylaws prohibit the NFL from loaning money for a new stadium when a team is relocating. So I just don't see the Spanos clan being able to get anything close to the funds necessary. And the Raiders? Even less of a chance. Although Mark Davis and his mother have a controlling interest, they own less than 50% of the Raiders and the Raiders are valued at less than the Chargers. Add to that the fact that over the weekend, Mark Davis said the Raiders are still trying to get something done in Oakland and the thing with the Chargers "Really, it’s just another part of the process", tells me this is going to turn out to be much ado about nothing. My guess, or maybe prediction is a better term, is that IF two teams end up in Los Angeles, it's going to be Kronke and the Rams in Kronke's stadium, with the Chargers as a tenant, NOT a partner and the Raiders are somewhere other than there. don bauder In a scenario that has the Chargers sharing a stadium with the Rams, which I personally consider unlikely, don't forget that aside from what ever deals they make with Kronke in terms of PSLs , lux boxes and concessions, the Chargers, or any other team sharing the stadium, would retain their income from merchandise sales, their 60% share of the home gate and their 1/32 share of TV revenue ($39.6 BILLION between 2019 and 2022). I don't believe that the Chargers, or any team for that matter, would have a problem making rent.— February 16, 2015 10:41 a.m.

captd/founder of course, you are entitled to your opinion, as am I. THe AG's office is not a party to the investigation, it is running it's investigation. Harris has been investigating SONGS since 2012, so it's seems a little hard to say that she has looked the other way. I repeat my previous statement. In all likelihood, Kamala Harris is going to be replacing Boxer as the next Senator from California. There will be nothing found that will damage her chances, regardless of who her opponent(s) turn out to be. In any event, we'll know the answer by June 7, 2016. As the esteemed Don Bauder himself said recently, most people in California pay little or no attention to the CPUC.— February 14, 2015 9:01 a.m.
