Sweetwater trustee reports stolen property to police
Woodchuck- hopefully, many will attend this meeting - share their ideas for positive solutions and resolve to help, each in their own way, to bring about the change that is needed. Together we can get this done - our students are depending on us. Property owners whose taxes are used to fuel SUHSD expect fiscal responsibility. Voting to spend $60,000.00 for memberships to, amongst other things many Chamber of Commerce's, in my opinion falls far short of fiscal responsibility ( see Mondays agenda ). Our tax dollars are needed in the middle and high schools - we should not be funding elementary charters until and unless we have met the needs of our middle, our high, our ROP, and our Adult Ed students.— June 19, 2013 4:28 p.m.

Fran Brinkmanship and John Brickley - two educators who have GREATLY, POSITIVELY impacted the lives of many students and young teachers. I have a special needs grown daughter. Fran Brinkman was her Special Ed teacher for several years. Ms. Brinkman not only helped my daughter but she helped me, a young mother as well. To this day, Ms. Brinkman is never too busy to take a call from her and listen. My daughter is 42, and she still refers to Fran as her teacher. Mr. Brickley - I have another daughter who is an educator, Mr. Brickley along with Ms. Brinkman served as her mentors as a young teacher. Her love for children with special needs was encouraged by these two wonderful educators. How sad is it that anyone, let alone an alleged board member would come to this board and denigrate Alternative Ed. timtim, you embarrass yourself. Brinkman and Brickley serve as two examples of the excellence in the ranks of teachers and the majority of Administrators that are tasked with helping our children be all that they can be. Brickley, Brinkman - YOU ROCK!!!!!!!— June 19, 2013 3:36 p.m.

Bob_Casteneda - many of us, myself included fell asleep at the political wheel. It is gratifying to see so many new groups organizing to get the message out. While many of our positions may differ, at least we are talking and sharing our points of view. No matter the venue, no matter the delivery - lets start talking!!!!!!! Lets take the time to attend at least one board meeting, take the time to email worthwhile information to all we know, let's take the time to research the issues. Then, and only then should we consider ourselves worthy of casting our vote. Together we can all bring about positive change.— June 19, 2013 2:10 p.m.

osdidoll - cheers was not forced to give up the sign by the police sergeant. As she stood there and realized that four cars had responded she took pause and realized that the officers had far more important issues to deal with. As she turned over Mccanns outdated illegally placed sign she wondered what a review of the call(s) Mccann placed to the dispatcher would reveal? What was the emergency claimed by Mccann? No doubt the banter at the police station locker room went something like this. "Yeh, tough night, part of a 4 car dispatch. John Mccann, x city council guy who we (police union) donated money to for his seat, needed us to drop the hammer on a 63 year old woman who had taken possession of one of his illegal, self promoting signs. She was a tough but respectful old bird, she chose to make the right choice and gave us his precious sign. Next time around, lets remember this incident and support a candidate who values our hard work".— June 19, 2013 1:04 p.m.

Mr. Jaime Mercado, a highly respected former board member did not abandon his seat on the dais to chase down an illegally placed OLD campaign sign. John Mccann totally disrupted the board meeting YET AGAIN, with a temper tantrum. Mccann has history in the realm of temper tantrums, he allegedly aimed his speeding car at a gentlemen he had issues with in a parking lot, he acted out in the district parking lot and called 911 to report an alleged pretend assault which a JUDGE THREW OUT OF COURT with a directive to Mccann to knock it off (paraphrase), and now in this picture he is seen yet again in the parking lot. (Perhaps he should stay out of parking lots since they seem to bring out the worst in him) Yes, public and elected officials THIS IS WHAT WE ARE HAVING TO DEAL WITH. What the community is wondering is why this emotionally damaged man continues to plague us. tim tim - no doubt those elected and public officials and VOTERS that are reading this blog are getting a true look at what YOU! JOHN MCCANN aka tim tim is all about.— June 19, 2013 9:54 a.m.

Perhaps Mccann had family in town and in an attempt to impress them he took them on a tour of the city. Down Olympic Parkway around Hilltop High, down Main, then up Main and finally up Olympic Parkway where he could be seen pointing out "on the left, there is a John Mccann sign, down there on that fence, yes, that is me as well, look up that embankment there I am again - yes, yes I am everywhere"— June 19, 2013 8:07 a.m.
Sweetwater trustee reports stolen property to police
Mr. Mccann, as a previous City Council member is well aware of the dangers that Chula Vista police officers face each and every second they are on the job. Why, would he, of all people, choose to USE them? Mccann was advised where he could pick the sign up at, it was Maxwell street. On top of using the police he also used city personnel, when they were forced to drive around and pick up his illegally placed signs on Main Street, Olympic Parkway, and near Hilltop High just to name a few. But the real question is WHY? WHY DID JOHN MCCANN PUT 3 YEAR OLD CAMPAIGN SIGNS OUT TO BEGIN WITH? My opinion, name recognition; but here are the facts, we know who he is and we are more than aware of all that he has failed to do and WE WANT HIM GONE! The students and taxpayers of the South Bay want representation by those who understand the meaning of integrity and are able to lead in a dignified professional manner. How embarrassing that other REAL public officials had to witness what we, the community, endure each and every month. Perhaps now, finally the State will step in and bring this three ring circus to an end. Let us consider the fact that while Mccann was stomping around whining about a $2.50 sign Mr. Calhoun was doing a presentation on student safety followed by a budget presentation by Dr. Alt. Is there now any argument that perhaps Mccann has his priorities mixed up? Where pray tell was Ms. Ricasa with one of her now infamous respect speeches. IF Mccann truly was in control of his emotions or if the district business at hand were a priority he would have had his booty in that chair paying attention to the business at hand. Mccann, it is time to hang up your boring speeches and your political hat - turn out the lights, the party is over. We want a real community servant, not a temper throwing brat sitting at the dais.— June 18, 2013 10:55 p.m.
