Mayor Faulconer's folly
Don: Will the city try to do the same thing they did with Petco Park--saying it is a redevelopment of the area, or whatever trick they pulled to avoid a 2/3 super majority.— January 15, 2015 5:17 p.m.
New sewer lines or new stadium fro San Diego? Your choice.
Don: Between the two, I'll take the Beverly Hillbillies.— January 15, 2015 5:11 p.m.
New sewer lines or new stadium fro San Diego? Your choice.
Don: I have friends who work there for Centerplate--it really is not in good shape.— January 15, 2015 5:08 p.m.
New sewer lines or new stadium fro San Diego? Your choice.
Don: Then Filner just gave up by pleading guilty.— January 15, 2015 5:05 p.m.
Mayor Faulconer's folly
Actually, I believe they did have the funds to build the original stadium, and maybe even the money for the 1st expansion. But the last expansion--the so-called $78 mil expansion--the city still owes 10's of millions on, and it won't be paid off until after either the Chargers leave or a new stadium is built (which the annual costs on will dwarf what is owed on the current stadium). I see that Katheryn Rhodes (if the name is spelled incorrectly, I apologize) has stated in other posts that the city is trying to find ways to rescind City Charter Section 221, which currently requires voters to approve any sale of city lands over 80 acres in size. It appears the shenanigans have officially begun to exclude the voters from deciding whether or not they should be involved in the decision of whether the city should build a new stadium.— January 15, 2015 11:59 a.m.
New sewer lines or new stadium fro San Diego? Your choice.
Don: True--it would have been more entertaining.— January 15, 2015 11:16 a.m.
New sewer lines or new stadium fro San Diego? Your choice.
Don: From having spent lots of time there again this season, $80 mil would be woefully short. JMO— January 15, 2015 11:16 a.m.
New sewer lines or new stadium fro San Diego? Your choice.
Don: If Filner hadn't done what he did, "the parade" would have had no spectators.— January 15, 2015 11:13 a.m.
New sewer lines or new stadium fro San Diego? Your choice.
Don: I don't usually watch them, but I did tonight. At least 30 minutes of my life I will never get back.— January 14, 2015 10:47 p.m.
New sewer lines or new stadium fro San Diego? Your choice.
Don: If it's maintained, it could last a long time. Problem is, this is San Diego, where the stadium is just another piece of the infrastructure that isn't properly maintained.— January 14, 2015 10:31 p.m.
