San Ysidrans, are you ready to scramble?!
Haven't they tried one of these in the Gaslamp in recent years? Wasn't (or isn't) it at 5th and Market?— February 28, 2015 7:36 p.m.
Chargers departure could hit U-T where it hurts
Of course they are in panic mode--they broadcast the games.— February 20, 2015 10:19 p.m.
Chargers departure could hit U-T where it hurts
In 1965, the ballot proposal for bonds to build San Diego Stadium was very successful. Every TV station, radio station, and the U-T could sing the praises of a new stadium today and there was no way it would have passed, and that was even before last night's announcement by the Chargers of an agreement with the Raiders to build a new stadium in Carson. I know some people think otherwise, but IMO, I don't think a new stadium here had a snowball's chance in hell of passing, and that chance was getting less and less each day.— February 20, 2015 11:15 a.m.
Stadium task force chairman had role in "Ticketgate"
As of tonight, it looks like this really doesn't matter very much anymore.— February 19, 2015 10:13 p.m.
Holy Ram nation, Mr. Spanos
Don--2 things contributed to the 2 teams leaving the LA area. One was the fact that even the Raiders couldn't draw enough people to the Coliseum and they couldn't get a new stadium, so Oakland made a bad stadium worse by expanding it and they went back to Oakland. The NFL couldn't stop them from returning, since they never gave them permission to leave in the first place. The other thing was Rams owner Georgia Frontiere got tired of playing in Anaheim and got St Louis to build her the domed stadium that the St Louis Rams want out of now. I think it would be much different now--especially if the NFL could convince Kroenke to allow another team to play in his facility.— February 18, 2015 6:26 p.m.
Fabiani grills Faulconer on conflicts of interest
It seems that Fabiani's new job with the Chargers is to grease the skids so the Chargers can bolt for greener pastures, whether it be to LA or San Antonio.— February 17, 2015 10:58 p.m.
No ballot tricks, Fabiani tells city
The stadium will cost less if it were built at the Qualcomm Stadium site. Unfortunately, it is still way too much for the city to afford.— February 16, 2015 6:32 p.m.
MLB: How they got there
I have never seen the term "Pods" used to describe the Padres. It has always (at least up until now) been The Pads when referring to the club.— February 5, 2015 2:52 p.m.
MLB: How they got there
Who are the "Pods"?. I thought Pods was a portable storage service. I have heard of the "Pads" before.— February 4, 2015 2:14 p.m.
Burnham in a rush for U-T San Diego takeover
They might just be correct--perhaps the Manchester U-T doesn't turn a profit anymore--could this be what they mean when they use the term "non-profit"?— February 3, 2015 9:22 p.m.
