Drunkards in a basket
Not trying to defend Minick or Harbaugh, but refusing a Breathalyzer test and a sobriety test could very well be two different things. I don't know Michigan state laws, but I believe in California, when you sign your driver license application, you are submitting to a chemical test if you are stopped on suspicion of DWI. If the sobriety test was a standard field sobriety test that Harbaugh refused to take, that in itself shouldn't have been wrong, but he still would have had to submit to a chemical test of his choice.— May 27, 2015 11:50 a.m.
Maybe new U-T management will help
Aren't many of these adds delivered on Friday most of the same adds that are included in the paper on other days? I quit looking a long time ago. As Wabbitsd says above--it's too bad they can't deliver them earlier on Friday, as that is also my trash day. If I could only get them to just throw it into the recycle bin directly...— May 26, 2015 4:16 p.m.
NFL team could play in L.A. in 2016
That's true, but their city council apparently thinks an NFL team playing there on a short-term basis will make the city millions to pay for needed improvements of the Rose Bowl. Obviously, the residents--especially the ones living near the Rose Bowl--want nothing to do with that. And I can't say that I blame them.— May 21, 2015 12:54 p.m.

Don: If San Diego approves any plan, it will undoubtedly be even worse for the taxpayers than the initial CSAG plan. And I'm not saying the current CSAG plan should be approved--only that the Chargers are going to demand MORE concessions that will cost the team even less (if anything at all).— May 21, 2015 11:10 a.m.
NFL team could play in L.A. in 2016
Don: Just going by memory--I believe the Pasadena City Council has previously authorized any NFL team moving to the LA area to play in the Rose Bowl temporarily (if they wish) while they build a new stadium in the region. I also believe that Pasadena city residents already have that approval tied up in court.— May 21, 2015 11:07 a.m.
This Chargers stadium proposal? Watch it.
Don: I still think there is a wildcard in all this--San Antonio. They would have to win over Jerry Jones, but San Antonio could host the Chargers in the Alamodome temporarily, while they build a new stadium on a site already chosen. Remember--this is Texas. A state where they build high school stadiums that cost as much as $60 million (that must undergo substantial repairs after 2 years due to shoddy workmanship). San Antonio, and the Austin area about 75 miles away, have a population combined of well over 4 million, and with only 1 major sport in San Antonio, they might just fall all over themselves to get an NFL team. Would Spanos go for that? Perhaps eventually, as I don't think he will get what he wants here, and if he really has any business sense, he won't go through with the Carson charade. I also think he wouldn't have to put much money at all into a new stadium there, as they are that crazy about football. Or, perhaps he could just sell the team to San Antonio interests and be done with it.— May 20, 2015 12:59 a.m.

That should be quite interesting.— May 19, 2015 2:50 p.m.

He would have caved on a stadium as well IMO, but we will never know.— May 19, 2015 9:35 a.m.

As far as the supervisors are concerned--what do they care? It could be their legacy (WE saved the Chargers from leaving San Diego!). There will be a complete turnover on the BoS anyway in the next few years due to term limits, so I don't think the supes will be too concerned using the millions they claim to have in a surplus to put towards a new stadium. It is ashamed they couldn't use that money for something constructive--like, maybe a fully staffed and full-time county fire department.— May 19, 2015 9:33 a.m.
