Two teams demand millions for stadium upgrades
Don: The D-Backs have won as many division titles in 17 years as the Padres have won in 47. And the D-Backs did win the WS in 2001. But whether they are a big winner or not, a huge $187 mil upgrade of that place isn't necessary.— April 8, 2016 8:56 a.m.
Two teams demand millions for stadium upgrades
Don: I think the home team doesn't make much money on the game since everything is controlled by MLB.— April 7, 2016 11:21 a.m.
Two teams demand millions for stadium upgrades
Don: I have friends that work in the facility. The press box is the least of it's problems.— April 7, 2016 11:18 a.m.
Two teams demand millions for stadium upgrades
Don: I have been to that ballpark more than a few times. There might be a few things they could do to improve the ballpark, but a $187 million upgrade? Please. The D-Backs should be happy they have a place with A/C (and it works VERY well, I might add).— April 7, 2016 11:17 a.m.
Two teams demand millions for stadium upgrades
A remodel? Hardly. At the time the city added seats (which was really all they did), the facility was about 30 years old. And then, the city treated the stadium as they have city infrastructure--which is to say patchwork fixes here and there. After something broke. The place is falling apart, but the city has no one to blame but themselves for the poor state of the Q.— April 6, 2016 10:30 p.m.
Two teams demand millions for stadium upgrades
Don: Sorry--it was Chase Field in Phoenix.— April 6, 2016 10:27 a.m.
Two teams demand millions for stadium upgrades
Don: A team has to make a request for an ASG. No Padres ownership group did--that is until the current one. Why previous ownership groups (including Moores) didn't; I have no idea.— April 6, 2016 10:26 a.m.
Two teams demand millions for stadium upgrades
Don: The scoreboards were replaced prior to the 2008 season.— April 5, 2016 3:38 p.m.
