Faulconer’s marauders
And that the city also owes DNC over $1 million since the Chargers have abandoned the Q and SD for LA. Another quality contract the city signed with someone. Who the hell keeps writing these contracts and leases?— January 26, 2017 8:26 a.m.
Big Fletcher donors behind MLS venue grab
Unfortunately, expansion is up to university presidents along with the conference commissioners, and lately, TV networks. Expansion doesn't really seem likely. One way you don't make an impression is playing in a 30,000 seat stadium. Yes, SDSU athletics has been improving in recent years. They beat Cal last year, and have two Pac12 teams on the schedule this upcoming season. And basketball has had a pretty good track record for a decade. But another thing to consider is--the Pac12 likes to recruit in San Diego (along with other P5 conferences), and it is to their advantage to keep SDSU out of the Pac12.— January 24, 2017 4:45 p.m.

Averaging 40k/game won't be a problem in a 30k seat stadium. It won't happen. They averaged about 37k/game this past season. Attendance should increase a bit with their second consecutive 11 win season, and the fact that the Chargers have slithered away to LA. The Aztecs have the chance to do it right the first time with stadium size. Some of the other G5 schools have also built stadiums in the 40-50k range recently (as have some P5 schools). 40k is on the low end of that range. Funding will be an issue, but it needs to be done right the first time. It's also interesting that of the Aztecs top ten attendance averages, 5 were done when the Q only sat about 53k for football.— January 23, 2017 4:17 p.m.
Goldsmith loses, Briggs wins
Not implying a thing. Allegedly.— January 23, 2017 12:23 p.m.
The last days of Anthony’s
Dined there with a friend in November. Had not been there for years. The staff had apparently already gone into the "we will soon be looking for another job and don't give a crap" attitude. Food was not good. Service wasn't great, either. It's really too bad. My parents always liked going there, as did I.— January 23, 2017 12:21 p.m.
NFL supposedly upset with Chargers' move
Don: It's gone on for years.— January 23, 2017 noon
Big Fletcher donors behind MLS venue grab
If SDSU has been meeting with these people for over a year, and this is all they get (the chance to play in a 20k-30k stadium, which is mentioned in other stories about this development but not mentioned in the story above), SDSU has been wasting all of their time. The stadium is too small for the Aztec's needs. It needs to be 40k minimum.— January 23, 2017 10:40 a.m.
NFL supposedly upset with Chargers' move
Don: Sonoma Ridge Apartments was built by AG Spanos in 2002 in Peoria, Az, It wasn't a huge complex, at 240 units. I just noticed the sign back then with the Spanos name on it.— January 23, 2017 10:01 a.m.
NFL supposedly upset with Chargers' move
Don: Even though it isn't a problem now--good luck getting Chargers fans in front of you to sit down.— January 23, 2017 9:54 a.m.
NFL supposedly upset with Chargers' move
Don: Regarding Spanos and apartment complexes--I believe they also built a sprawling complex just down the road from where the Padres hold Spring Training in Peoria, Az.— January 22, 2017 10:01 p.m.
