NFL owners’ noses growing while their pants burn
Don: A story about gambling in the NFL. Back in the days I wagered on NFL games, I was with a group of friends in a Las Vegas sports book. I had wagered on 2 different games--both on the point spread and total. I won the early game easily, but I needed the Chargers vs Broncos game to go over the total (44.5 points) to win my 4 way parlay (the point spread and over the total for each game). As I said before, the first game covered easily in both covering the spread and going over the total. The Chargers/Broncos had the Broncos winning by quite a bit, and they had that covered well before the end of the game, as they led 37-0 late in the 4th quarter. The Chargers scored a TD with under 5 minutes to go, making the score 37-6. They kick the extra point, and the score would have been 37-7, and I lose my 4 team parlay by half a point. For a reason I didn't understand, the Chargers went for 2. It made no sense, but they made it, and I won my bet ($50 to win $500). I should have paid more attention to that move by the Chargers. That was back in 2003, and not long after that, I stopped betting on football. Pretty much all sports for that matter. I don't watch that much pro football anymore either.— May 17, 2017 8:06 p.m.
Coastal Commission to Encinitas — No!
So...according to the Coastal Commission, the bike lane must be east of the tracks, but storage of radioactive material must be right next to the Pacific Ocean. Got it.— May 16, 2017 10:42 p.m.
City faces yet another damaged sidewalk lawsuit
Just out of curiosity--why was he riding his bike on the sidewalk?— May 9, 2017 12:31 p.m.
NFL supposedly upset with Chargers' move
And as, with any rule instituted by the NFL, that rule can be changed at any time, for any reason.— May 6, 2017 1:09 p.m.
Chargers now on KFI AM 640
Completely forgot about the Raiders. I thought they had already filed for bankruptcy? Maybe they have just been talking about it for years.— April 28, 2017 9:50 a.m.
Chargers now on KFI AM 640
I would think, since most Charger games are on Sundays, that KFI will be broadcasting the games. Regarding KFI and sports broadcasting--they were the home of the Dodgers from 1960-1973. I remember listening to many a Dodger game as a kid. Too bad that the Chargers will probably never come close to reaching the level of popularity that the Dodgers achieved on that station.— April 27, 2017 11:08 a.m.
Deep state GOP justice?
Since Teflon Bonnie has announced she is resigning, she must have received assurances that Summer Stephan would be named interim DA, so Stephan can essentially run as the incumbent. Teflon Bonnie running for county supervisor? I guess she rather have the higher paying gig. Actually, I think she has a better chance of being elected to the board than if she decided to run for mayor of SD again. But whatever she runs for, I really hope she loses.— April 20, 2017 10:12 a.m.
Deep state GOP justice?
Personally, I don't think she would run for mayor again. Then again, it wouldn't totally surprise me.— April 19, 2017 9:40 a.m.
Deep state GOP justice?
I figured this would happen months ago. It's just the way things happen with county law enforcement. Teflon Bonnie will step aside before the next election, giving Stephan the boost to run for DA as the incumbent. Teflon Bonnie slides off into the sunset.— April 18, 2017 11:57 a.m.
St. Louis sues Rams and NFL over team's departure
Don: I said "in a twisted way", I wanted it to pass. I think the only reason Spanos tied a stadium to a convadium thingy was he thought there would be ways to pawn off stadium costs as convadium costs--thereby keeping even more money in his pocket. Realistically, I didn't want it to pass, and voted against it.— April 14, 2017 2:58 p.m.
