Dog House Diner told to scram from Encinitas Home Depot
As a 24-year employee of HD, I am torn as to whether to have a discussion with you about HD or not. I do agree with your last paragraph, at least until the last sentence. HD is doing things right for the shareholder, but not the HD employee. The Wal-Martization of HD continues. And it sucks.— June 1, 2013 11:22 a.m.
Grantville Action Group loses at appeals court level
Brian--does this mean the payments are currently being made?— June 1, 2013 10:25 a.m.
Dog House Diner told to scram from Encinitas Home Depot
Perhaps my comment didn't explain it, but I DO get the point. I work at HD, and we used to have a similar emporium outside of our store. It was removed (we assume by HD management) some years ago. Many of the HD employees also frequented the business, as was probably the case in Encinitas. HD is not the company it once was, and this is another small example of that.— June 1, 2013 10:21 a.m.
Dog House Diner told to scram from Encinitas Home Depot
Many Home Depot stores used to have hot dog carts/trailers locally, but they have all disappeared from the front of stores in recent years. Home Depot is not all that concerned about Lowes, as HD has pounded Lowes in earnings and stock price in recent years. Lowes will open that new store, and within a year they will have massive layoffs.— May 31, 2013 11:01 p.m.
Grantville Action Group loses at appeals court level
So the Grantville settlement agreement is legal, but according to the State Dept of Finance it's not an enforceable agreement. So what monies have already changed hands, what monies have yet to change hands, and where does any remaining monies come from to satisfy any remaining payments towards the settlement agreement?— May 31, 2013 11:13 a.m.

How many restaurants/bars have come and gone in the East Village since Petco Park opened?— May 30, 2013 9:23 a.m.
Downtown San Diego Partnership to spend $110,000 of PBID funds on Director of Homeless Outreach
Sort of reminds me of the salaries that CCDC used to pay before they were eliminated (only to become Civic San Diego or whatever they call themselves now).— May 28, 2013 11:46 p.m.
More layoffs at Union-Tribune
The last line reads in part; "...The U-T is doing well..." blah, blah, blah. The line spoken by Lynch reminds of Kevin Bacon's character in the movie, "Animal House", when he utters his quote, "Remain calm, all is well." Right before he is trampled by a mob. The mob in this case is the dwindling number of readers of the Manchester U-T. Does the U-T still claim they are read by over 1 million a day, or a week, or whatever ridiculous claim they were making before?— May 28, 2013 11:44 p.m.

They want to buy other major metropolitan newspapers? God help them--and us.— May 28, 2013 9:06 p.m.
County home values continue soaring
Why are they increasing? Are the banks holding back foreclosed properties from the market to artificially drive up prices? Are there enough people out there that can HONESTLY afford to buy a home right now? Salaries aren't increasing at the same rate housing costs are, and many people are having their hours cut to part-time status. Should we be investing in helium for the short term to blow the next set of balloons up? I just don't see how this is possible right now.— May 28, 2013 12:07 p.m.
