Reports: Rural/Metro ambulance service near bankruptcy
Don: Just to clarify--my mother didn't work for the city, but my father did. She is receiving some benefits from the city as a surviving spouse, but she does pay for her own medical insurance.— August 5, 2013 8:54 a.m.
Did Manuel Paul illegally burn San Ysidro School District papers?
Of course not--just a coincidence.— August 4, 2013 11:28 p.m.
Reports: Rural/Metro ambulance service near bankruptcy
Don: Very true--and the ironic thing is, my mother is paying for her insurance as a spouse of a former city employee (who unfortunately retired long before the retirement amounts rose dramatically). I'm curious to see how much is paid for the ambulance ride, and how much we get to pay.— August 4, 2013 10:21 p.m.
Reports: Rural/Metro ambulance service near bankruptcy
Here is the bill in a nutshell (as listed on bill). ALS EMERGENCY--$1565.33 (I assume that is for the response) MILEAGE--$23.01 (As stated above, it's roughly 1 mile from our house to Kaiser Hospital, from near the Allied Gardens library, down Zion Ave to the hospital) OXYGEN--$28.25. I do not know if charges would have been different if only the ambulance was dispatched, as both an engine and paramedics were dispatched. I understand this is now common practice. The engine co. beat the ambulance to the house by a few minutes.— August 4, 2013 6:45 p.m.
Reports: Rural/Metro ambulance service near bankruptcy
Makes you wonder how that can be--my mother was taken by ambulance last week to Kaiser Hospital (roughly 1 mile from the house), and the bill for that trip was $1616.59. It must cost a great deal to run those lights and sirens.— August 3, 2013 10:37 p.m.
Casting call: 4 spots remain in Filner biopic, 12 Angry Women
By the time we're done, we will probably have alternates for the "12 Angry Women".— August 2, 2013 2:16 p.m.
No known witnesses yet in Jackson lawsuit, says Filner's lawyer
Don: The joy of The Reader is that in most cases, if people disagree with another person's opinion, usually a healthy conversation follows. Most people on The Reader's forums seem to understand that you don't have to "go off" on another poster because you don't agree with him/her, which is why I would rather post here.— August 1, 2013 3:27 p.m.
No known witnesses yet in Jackson lawsuit, says Filner's lawyer
I hate tunnels, as I am claustrophobic.— August 1, 2013 3:19 p.m.
No known witnesses yet in Jackson lawsuit, says Filner's lawyer
Filner had his chance to get his hands (rightly) on that money for the good of the entire city instead of just the downtown area, but because, among other things, he (allegedly) couldn't keep his tongue in his mouth around women, he will not get that chance.— August 1, 2013 8:27 a.m.
Filner did all the right things the wrong way
And yet, Pallamary has filed his paperwork to begin his recall effort, including filing paperwork with the city clerk's office, who apparently accepted it. So now, the question is, which recall is the valid one?— July 29, 2013 4 p.m.
