Mayor Sanders joins Marco LiMandri against conflict charges
Fascinating. I can only assume that plaintiff's lawsuit contains a couple of typos in paragraph 25 and should read as follows: "25. Assistant Deputy Chief Murray told Plaintiff that, “all hell had broken loose in the Mayor’s office, and that people were upset with [Plaintiff], including the Mayor himself, and that [Plaintiff] should lay low for awhile.”" As for paragraph 32, I find any mention of a HUD audit in plaintiff's suit to directly challenge the validity of any recent city self-study (wherein collecting forbidden interest on HUD block grants is profoundly damning in terms of potential San Diego taxpayer liability, incurred as previously reported by unsupervised layers of two wayward redevelopment agencies CCDC and SEDC): "32. In addition to Plaintiff’s cooperation in the investigation of LiMandri, THE CITY had knowledge that Plaintiff had cooperated with the Department of Housing and Urban Affairs (“HUD”). HUD’s Office of the Inspector General was conducting an in-depth audit of THE CITY with regard to THE CITY’s past management of HUD funds." A link to the mentioned HUD audit: http://www.hud.gov/offices/oig/reports/files/ig09… I have no record that the required documentation covering $139 million in then-outstanding HUD loans was ever actually taken care of by our current City Attorney. If it had, I'm sure there would have been a parade down Broadway to mark the event...— March 10, 2010 2:22 p.m.
Bersin’s bash
At least not filling the commissioner's position helps to decrease the national debt, and if the Republican party expenditures are truly local to California, then God bless 'em for stimulating the state economy!— March 10, 2010 1:27 p.m.
San Diego Unemployment Rate Leaps to 11%
Although it's a hard statistic to find, I'd bet the underground economy has seen unemployment decreasing over the same time frame. I've been showing more than a few of my younger neighbors that private tutoring on a strictly-cash basis at local community colleges can at least stave off starvation. Even if my income rarely exceeds expenses leaving me with no retained earnings, I do get to see others' value in the marketplace go up as a result of their improved learning while I legitimately avoid excessive income taxes at the same time. Getting that letter during the Clinton administration to stop filing was a hoot!— March 10, 2010 1:19 p.m.

Citizens Sour on Lemon Grove?
Actually, this is pretty much news to me. Looking at the condition of Imperial Avenue as one travels from Encantostan into that great metropolis known for its ceremonial citrus, the dismal state of San Diego streets giving way to smooth asphalt had me convinced that Lemon Grove had it going on.— March 10, 2010 noon
Questions Abound in City's Planned Refunding of Stadium Bonds
RE #11 I was merely making the bemused point that it was actually put in print about nobody telling the community about this...— March 9, 2010 3:48 p.m.
Questions Abound in City's Planned Refunding of Stadium Bonds
According to page nine from the above link to this morning's (3/9/10) agenda item, there has been no community participation and public outreach relating to the voter-blind bond item. Question: Why was not any community participation or public outreach attempted? Any council members care to comment? The first-named firm for "Business entities involved in this transaction" on page ten is J.P. Morgan Securities. J. P. Morgan is the firm that is buying up the dismantled leftovers from the RBS Sempra Commodities LLC wind-down from the Royal Bank of Scotland side of the LLC's balance sheet. Question: Is this the only connection in the bond deal that has something to do with any part or partnership of Sempra Energy?— March 9, 2010 8:53 a.m.
Local Lead Indicators Continue Rising
For those interested in how to pull this off, there are a number of tests to determine if someone is really an "independent contractor", including degree of supervision as mentioned above. Other questions: Does the individual supply her or his own tools? Is the worker required to be present at the job site or can he or she complete the work elsewhere? The up-to-date list can be found by viewing http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p15a.pdf with a careful reading to avoid IRS problems later...— February 27, 2010 9:58 a.m.
Local Lead Indicators Continue Rising
And as long as they do that, I don't have to withhold much of anything for them, either. Dealings with corporate lawyers have taught me well.— February 27, 2010 12:44 a.m.
These San Diegans live right next to I-5, I-15, the 94
Encantostan is conveniently located about as far away from any freeway as one can be and still remain within the legal city limits of San Diego. For those of you not in the know, Encantostan is that place allegedly between San Diego and Lemon Grove where neither city is willing to extend jurisdiction even if Broadway between Akins Avenue and 69th Street never gets paved... Maybe this has something to do with Matt Potter's report of all of those Sempra Energy employees giving contributions to Tony Young of 4th District fame... maybe not.— February 26, 2010 1:21 p.m.
