Sweetwater Unified High School District Boardmember Seeks Removal of Superintendent Jesus Gandara
Several things are worrisome about this meeting. FIRST, the venue's location is meant to discourage the general public. Chula Vista Middle School is more centrally located. SECOND, there may be cover in the agenda to allow them to take no meaningful action thereby prolonging the three ring circus atmosphere. If John McCann stalls long enough that Gandara vests in a CALPERS pension I believe he will be held accountable.— June 18, 2011 8:56 p.m.
Sweetwater Union High School District Money Trail Gets Longer
Good question! Last week he was out giving commencement speeches to captive graduates about his "war stories" in Iraq - you know, how he was asked to sell them his jeans and people kept pestering him about knowing Brad Pitt or Angelina. Maybe he is resting up for the next Board Meeting on June 20. Maybe he is searching for a venue that would accommodate ALL people on JUNE 20. Maybe he is waiting for Gandara and Bonifacio Garcia to tell him what to do next.— June 8, 2011 12:24 p.m.

Does Sweetwater’s Hiring of Greg Vega Constitute Conflict?
Now the UT tells us that the "independent" Greg Vega brokered the SUHSD's contract hiring Bonifacio Garcia as their legal counsel at a whopping $83,000 plus per month. The contract also authorized Garcia to hire spin merchants like Scott Alevy and Dan Hom out of sight of the Board. Greg Vega can't fix this. Someone should step in to take over this dysfunctional district.— May 28, 2011 3:23 p.m.

It is shocking that John McCann, the fiscal conservative, still does not get it. Instead of a $15,000 "independent" study of Alevy someone should do a study on how much money Bonifacio Garcia contributed to the campaigns of sitting board members. Then there should be a grand jury audit of the Sweetwater Education Foundation where both Scott Alevy and Dan Hom sit on the board.— May 26, 2011 11:39 a.m.
Citizens Denied Attendance to Sweetwater Union High Meeting
John (back from Iraq) McCann is seen as the top Republican in the South Bay. SDRostra is trying to show him how to get out of the SUHSD mess without imploding. When McCann ran for the Assembly against Marty Block the Republicans pulled out the stops but HE LOST. THEY know his star is being tarnished. John's wife, Myssie, and Derrick Roach, their private investigator, both, sit on the Republican Central Committee. It will be interesting to see how this plays out - will John throw Gandara under the bus to curry the support of the Republicans?— May 22, 2011 11:20 a.m.
Citizens Denied Attendance to Sweetwater Union High Meeting
This paralells eerily what was going on at Southwestern College when the thugs were in charge - banning teachers from campus, using police to intimidate, denying free speech and spewing dishonest PR spin. John McCann and his board must do whatever is necessary to stop this or be held accountable. Community awareness is growing by the day and they don't like scandal! As to Lillian Leopold I would respectfully suggest she and her fellow administrators should immediately find a larger venue because this problem isn't going away.— May 20, 2011 3:43 p.m.
