Put up or cover-up, public utilities commission?
The latest figure on the number of African elephants poached is around 80,000. If all the elephants in the room connected to this story were African, they need to be used to restock the Dark Continent. But alas, they will be kept confined. As the old song ends, "Dream, dream, dream." Who's gonna explore the Brown/Peevey relationship? Aguirre for AG?— March 31, 2015 5:32 p.m.
Fired — and not liking it at all
Too many "opinions," not enough facts.— March 31, 2015 5:11 p.m.
Where's my green-waste container?
When I lived in a neighborhood where there was green-waste pick-up, I would trim my canyon wild vegetation at the beginning of every fire season (sometime in May). It was all clean stuff, because there was no container to hide contaminants. If pick-ups could be scheduled along every property that includes canyons and other wildlands just before the beginning of the fire season (what is called the "dry date), it would go a long way to reducing hazards related to wildfires. Anybody who generates enough garden waste to require pick-up is using too much water and fertilizer. It should go into the "regular" waste containers anyway, as it is too often contaminated to be useful as "mulch." The "mulch" quality is pretty poor anyway, but the processing does help keep the big volumes of organics out of the landfills, extending their useful lives. Any kind of "waste" is a signpost of our stupidity as a culture anyway. We will bury ourselves, one way or the other.— March 31, 2015 5:06 p.m.

AEG pulls out of L.A. stadium negotiations
I'm in great sympathy with him; I, too, had a severe bout of the flu and pneumonia last year. I reckon I've got so much DDT in my fat cells that when I die I may fail to rot.— March 18, 2015 6:55 p.m.
Hysterical complaints on the city of San Diego’s website

AEG pulls out of L.A. stadium negotiations
I've been out of town. What's this stuff about Don? Or is it a private matter? I've been in and out of, er, four ER's and hospitals, including three ambulance rides over the last ten or twelve months, but I've bounced back. Well, crawled back in some cases. Anyhow, I hope we're both around and full of piss and vinegar for at least another decade. Some pretty young nurses to flirt with helps the healing a lot.— March 13, 2015 10:02 p.m.
Holy Ram nation, Mr. Spanos
Government shouldn't be involved with sports franchises, period. Except to EXTRACT money from the owners for the problems they cause. It's "promote the general welfare," not "promote the 'generals' welfare."— March 7, 2015 10:24 p.m.
