L.A. Times Says Chargers Closer to Moving North. Fabiani Suggests It's True
See ya Chargers, don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out. Spanos has soaked this city for too much, and 'ol Golding was dumb enough to believe the hype.— January 27, 2009 5:05 p.m.
San Diego City Employees pension fund ailing
Fred, I have to formally apologise for words we had some time ago. Fred and myself went head on into a heated discussion of the vollie vs paid conflict. I concede that we, as the fire service need to coordinate efforts with the HOA's, and community leaders to implement a fight or flight plan for the homeowners. I would, enjoy the fact that we could give the individual a guideline to plan for his/her own safety, and the ability to make the informed decision without big gov't getting in the way. As I stated earlier, I would hope that all sides could get the IGM (I Got Mine) mentality out of the picture and get resolution for the pension mess. Pay cuts would be hard for my family to deal with, but I am all for getting to a midpoint.— January 16, 2009 8:41 p.m.
San Diego City Employees pension fund ailing
Wow, this thread has been one heck of an enjoyable read. With the current economy, and impending "doomness" on the horizon, I hope and wish that our IAFF and the city will come to terms on this pension mess. I was hired after the MP1/2 scam, and am totally open to a settled agreement. I am not one to take and not give. I hope they can get it fixed before I get deployed back to the Middle East. My 5c.— January 14, 2009 5:56 p.m.
City Auditor Says Blackwater Didn't Misrepresent Self, but Criticizes City Procedures
Sorry John, you are way past the stretchable cutoff, but you request shows effort. I knew two Master Gunnys (E9) that tried to get back in after 30 years, and the Corps said no. Your last post regarding the war profiteering is right on the marks. Saw it in Iq and it was sickening. We made the statement that if contractors tried this in the 'States they would be arrested. The truth will set us free after the contacts are reviewed and exposed..— June 10, 2008 1:08 p.m.

I really think, Don, that the DoD has convinced that replacing the Soldier/Sailor/Marine with a civvie has a same effect that the WW1 statement "free a man to fight." Then those who push these no-bid contracts are shareholders in that company (Shotgun Cheney). We have been so inundated with outsourcing that it has become a part of corporate fabirc, and thusly trickles down to the DoD.— June 10, 2008 10:36 a.m.

To Johnny - how old and what is your prior background? To Fred - Ya know I have been a Repub for years and as I grow older and slog to the end of my years as a Marine I seenothing good coming from the party after being witness to KBR's gougin in Iraq, and the slow annexation of basic services here in the states by civilian entities, that were sole military. Sad but we are following the path of the Roman Empire.— June 10, 2008 10:29 a.m.

Don, I have an additional view. As a veteran of Iraq I have seen some incredible waste committed by the Bush appointed contractors, primarily KBR, and WSI. I wholeheartedly agree with most here, when I say that when the Marines ran the weapons training programs for the Navy (cadre duty) there were no issues. When the Marines ran the gates at facilities, there was no gov't waste, and finally when the Marines were on board ship, the sailors didn't have to go to a contractor, just on the fantail, with a Marine.— June 9, 2008 4:04 p.m.
