Get Used to Unemployment
My daughter got a student loan for phlebotomy school, got her license, then couldn't pay back the loan because there were no entry-level jobs. I had planned to go back to get a master's degree once my kids left home. But I'm afraid I'll get the loan and won't be able to subsequently get a job to pay it back. ======== Student Loans are a MAJOR problem. I currently have the the biggest case involving SL's in the country pending at the 9th Circuit (on rehearing, then off to the SCOTUS). There is MAJOR fraud in the program, and the lack of ANY legal or consumer protections is the biggest reason they have so much fraud. The failure of the federal courts to remedy these problems is an even BIGGER problem (there are major Constitutional violations in many of the laws that support student loans); http://atlantapost.com/2010/08/17/will-student-lo…— August 19, 2010 8:38 a.m.
Get Used to Unemployment
I believe that San Diego future will be, not unlike one of the Hawaiian Islands; a great place to visit and an even better place to live, if you are Wealthy. If you are young, looking for work or on a fixed income, then life here will be fiscally challenging and many who consider themselves "locals" will be forced to relocate elsewhere, to escape the high cost of living, Utility Increases and tax increases that will be "sold" to the Public by those that will profit by them... =============== Agree 100%. Yuma wasn't a spring training site for the Padres in only1992. It was their spring training facility from their very first season thru the 1993 spring training. ======== I never meant to imply it was only their camp in 1992-just that they moved around that time, and yes it was Peoria.— August 19, 2010 8 a.m.
UCSD 35th in USN&WR College Rankings
In 1987: Chico St.(#1) and SDSU(#3). Wisconsin was not even listed, which deeply offended many a cheesehead. In 2002: ASU(#1), Chico St.(#2), Colorado(#6), Wisconsin(#7), SDSU(#10) ===================== Chico State was infamous for their spring break, known as "Pioneer Days" and the local police, as I understand it, finally had enough of it and put the hammer down on the unruly, unlawful behaviour-much the way Palm Springs afther their riots in 1986 during their spring break wild days........— August 19, 2010 7:54 a.m.

If you do a Google search, you will find Ashford on quite a few college top 10 lists. The key is that they are "on" them, not "in" them. They advertise everywhere, and often appear in the margins on those lists. ==================== OMG was that hilarious!!!!!— August 19, 2010 7:49 a.m.

I really hope surfpuppy can step up and help them. LOL ============ If I end up in Yuma, I will absolutely go!!! Unless it is a 3PM game, no way am I going out in Yuma heat at 3PM. When I lived in Lansing Michigan they had just built a BEAUTIFUL ballpark for the minor league team, the Lansing Lugnuts-and it was so much more fun to see a ball game in a 12K seat park vs a 40K-50K seat park. The entire atmosphere at a minor league game is, IMO, light years ahead of a major league game because of the smaller venue.— August 19, 2010 7:48 a.m.

Actually, the first couple of seasons of the league, probably 5 or 6 years ago, there was a team in SD. They played over at TGwynn's place. I had to look this up. They were called the Surf Dawgs ============ I remember the Surf Dawgs!— August 19, 2010 7:44 a.m.

Yuma does have a baseball team and I think they need someone to help subsize it. Sounds like a job for the surfpup. ================= Yuma used to be the spring training facility for the Padres back in 92, I dont think Yuma has a minor liegaue team nor is it a spring facility for any major league team. Las Vegas has the Stars-which I think is Padres farm team.....— August 18, 2010 7:26 p.m.
