A Chat About Lemon Grove Kid Dennis Hopper
i went to one year of High School @ Helix with Dennis hopper...he was a crazy kid whose only interest was theatre..he went far!! ==================== Wow, that is cool nan!!! I never knew Hopper went to Helix. Did you know him or hang with him??? Anyone else become famous from Helix??? Cameron Crowe, the writer/director is from Point Loma High...— October 22, 2010 11:45 a.m.
Sanders's "Frighten 'Em" Prop. D Scam
Apparently Rizzo was supposed to fill in for Sanders at the last two meetings because no one would notice the difference between him and Sanders, but Rizzo's ankle alarm keeps going off when he gets too close to the border. ==================================== :) !!!— October 22, 2010 11:42 a.m.
Mayor a No-Show at Second Community Forum
It takes two to tango. To float bonds, a city needs an underwriter. ===================== It may take two to tango, but it take three to make a bond issue work-you need a willing buyer of the bonds. And the rate that would be needed to get a SD City bond sold on the open and free market, with BK a step away, would be in excess of 30%....— October 22, 2010 8:13 a.m.
Sanders's "Frighten 'Em" Prop. D Scam
If people with a mail in ballot want to vote at the poll anyway, they can. They surrender their ballot and get whatever party they want… ================= As I said in an earlier post, I had to do this during the Mike Aguirre re election vote because the ROV mailed out the ballots too late to have them mailed back in time to get counted. People may not know this, but if you vote absentee, by mail, if your mailed in ballot arrives after the polls close, it is not counted.— October 21, 2010 6:42 p.m.
Sanders's "Frighten 'Em" Prop. D Scam
The voter pays postage if they mail in their ballot. Some may not realize it, but postage is one of businesses largest operating expenses. The ROV doesn’t pay postage. ================ And they use that oversized envelope so you must use more than 1 stamp.— October 21, 2010 6:39 p.m.
Sanders's "Frighten 'Em" Prop. D Scam
I have ANOTHER reason for disliking mail-in voting. People are making decisions about how to vote, not at the end of the campaign season, but near its start. ============= Not true really. Whitman has been out there for at least 9 months, Brown at least 6, and most campaigns have been in full swing for several months. Absentee/mail in ballots are usually not mailed out until 4-6 weeks before hand, and in the election where Mike Aguiree lost his re election bid for CA the ballots arrived just a week or so beofre the elections. I got mine so late I could not mail it in and had to vote in person. The stupid thing came literally a few days before the election-and me and many others were fuming over it. I also tend to think-or guess really-that people who have absentee/mail ballots are more up on the issues, at least the people I know.— October 21, 2010 5:13 p.m.

All I can say is that you are better off asking first. The "in public view" standard is not absolute. (Schools, etc). ======================= Interesting point. K-12 public schools are off limits to outsiders, you do not have a legal right to just walk in, and certainly not take pics of anyone under 18. A public university, on the other hand, would be OK. I think I might also question someone on a public street taking pics of a private area-like inside a home/window/backyard. I don't know the answer to that one, but it very well could be OK, and on the other hand I could also see an invasion of privacy claim being upheld too. i would think the 1st Amendment rights would prevail most, if not 99.99%, of the time.— October 21, 2010 3:57 p.m.
Councilmember Marti Emerald Douses Political Firestorm over San Diego's Public Safety Budget Cuts
Here's another one. The City only bills the Chargers for 50 percent of the cost of law enforcement, fire and traffic control services during home games. Spanos is a billionaire who doesn't even live in San Diego ============ Lets make Spanos pay for what he uses then. I am all for it. I HATE Spanos b/c if the way he rips our city off. I will be the first in line to fight that fight.— October 21, 2010 2:27 p.m.
Sanders's "Frighten 'Em" Prop. D Scam
We're 12 days out from the election, I hope it comes fast b/c I am sick of these political commercials, and I am sick of the spin I see on all the propisitions.— October 21, 2010 2:25 p.m.
Councilmember Marti Emerald Douses Political Firestorm over San Diego's Public Safety Budget Cuts
Guess you did not listen to the Mayor at one of the first town hall meeting. Cops have already done what you ask. FF will be doing it this years, and employees hired after 7/1/05 don't get the pension or benefit you complain of. I love it when people like you say the employees should take the "hit" but citizens like you want services for free or half the real cost of providing the service. What would you do, if as puppy suggests, your income, no matter what it source, was cut by 25 percent. =================== #1) The PD and FD have not taken a 25% pay cut nor have they had their pensions altered in the manner I suggest, the only way that the system can remain viable. #2) Services are not given for "free", nor have the citizens asked for "free" services. They have asked not to get ripped off with pay and pension scams similar to Bell and Vernon CA have. 3%@50 is essentially a scam. I laid out my plan, PD/FD retire at age 62, if you cannot pull hoses on those 2% of actual fire calls that requires you to pull a hose, then there are other duties just as important that you can do. #3), Last, I never suggested 25% of income be cut from everyone, just those making $100K or more in salary, the top 7% in the nation. This is not too much to ask. "Next, you and the pupster will suggest we reclassify government employees as indentured servants, not public servants."..please, you're starting to sound like the FF mouth piece who claims we are putting $200K per year employees into the poor house, and it is a ridiculous comment.— October 21, 2010 11:56 a.m.
