THOUGHTS OF MY DAD ON VETERANS DAY
This is an intense story, and I am greatly disappointed I cannot read it. PLEASE fix it and notify me via PM. TY, SP619.— November 11, 2010 7:11 a.m.
Remember the Economy of September 2006?
I think programming and writing code MAY be one of the few areas the private sector does SLIGHTLY better than the public sector. But who knows-it would be interesting to have hard data on it. One thing is for sure, all of the unskilled and semi-skilled blue collar government jobs comp MUCH more in the public sector. I read in the OC Register a few days ago that one of the FF's in the county made $120K in overtime alone. The $120K standing alone would put you in the top 7% in the nation in income-add in the regular pay and benefits costs (another $200K) and the total comp would be in the $300K+ range which is above the 99th percentile nationwide. For a rank and file, semi-skilled, blue collar government employee.— November 10, 2010 9:07 p.m.
Belmont Park Predicament Not Amusing
The city is selling property as fast as it can. Rezoning is a decision made by the city. ==================== The city cannot rezone coastal property without the approval of the coastal commission, and that is not going to happen. Besides, I don't even know if the city has title to the property-it may be owned by the state. Not sure though. If you have never heard any stories about the coastal commission, then you are in for some serious entertainment.— November 10, 2010 8:44 p.m.
Channel 10 Airs Mayor's Deposition in Crime Case Tonight
Don, what do you do when you have a District Attorney that is corrupt? I keep seeing all this major major evidence of corruption, then the FBI lays it on Dumanis' desk and it disappears. She is plenty busy prosecuting people w/ medical marijuana licenses, but wont spend 1 second prosecuting white collar crime. ================================ I have been seeing corruption at all levels of the federal judiciary within the last few years. Is it large scale??? I think when it reaches the upper levels of the judiciary you can say YES, it is large scale. It is really amazing to see corruption at the federal level-in federal courts. I would not blink twice at a local state judge being corrupt, or our illustrious DA being corrupt, but when it hits the federal level I think you have big problems. We need to pray for this country, to get it's moral footing back.— November 10, 2010 8:30 p.m.
For-Profit College CEOS Rolling in Dough, Including Bridgepoint
The for profit colleges are a major scam. And this really drives the point home. A substandard, most likely uselss, education at 10 times the cost of a state school, where the federal loan money will drive the student into default when they cannot get hired, or hired but cannot make payment-and taxpayers will take it in the shorts while the CEO's and their fraud run rampant.— November 10, 2010 6:31 p.m.
Remember the Economy of September 2006?
What do we do all week? We go to meetings and meetings about those meeting and metings to discuss why we need a meeting, if it is an important subject we call the meeting a "taskforce meeting". ================ Hahahahha...now that is pretty funny.— November 10, 2010 6:27 p.m.
Remember the Economy of September 2006?
Why don't you use that 2x4 on Bernanke, who is hellbent on creating more asset bubbles? ====================== Bernanke would be #2 on my list-no mistake about it-but Greenspan would be #1.— November 10, 2010 6:11 p.m.
Channel 10 Airs Mayor's Deposition in Crime Case Tonight
Hahahahaha..... I have had to do a video taped deposition before, and my worst nightmare was it showing up in public, ala Bill Clinton. KFC Sanders must be hiding in shame tonight........— November 10, 2010 6:07 p.m.
Remember the Economy of September 2006?
At first, I merely imagined that the well-deserved financial sector wallop of the Crash of 2008 would mostly be restricted to that economic sector, that the Crash was a necessary bloodletting that we would soon recover from, as I imagined that the American economy would just shake that off and continue to march. How wrong I was. ====================== I saw the REO real estate tsunami meltdown coming, but I had no idea it would wipe out the entire economy like it has, no idea. We can thank one person really-Mr Bubble, aka Alan Greenspan. I would like to whack that clown over the head a few times with a 2x4.— November 10, 2010 1:14 p.m.
Remember the Economy of September 2006?
According to Bureau of Labor Statistics data for December 2009 (the most recent), the average hourly earnings for state and local government workers in San Diego County was $29.66, compared with $21.25 for private industry workers. The data were collected between May of last year and July of this year. ======================= Nearly 50% more just in salary, now add in the benefits, and then the bullet proof job security-gov employment is out of control. . . On a job-by-job basis, state and local government workers have higher hourly earnings. ...Government jobs pay better, both full-time and part-time: $30.21 versus $22.81 and $21.00 versus $12.67, respectively. ==================== Again, this is just salary, no benefits used-where gov is ahead by 500% or more.— November 10, 2010 1:12 p.m.
