Time to Take a Career Break?
This would not work for anyone that had a family or other major financial/emotional or familial relationships. But it does sound liek fun if you have the courage to do it.— December 4, 2010 8:32 a.m.
Chula Vista Prepares for Cross-Border Violence and More
You CANNOT incur long term debt-like salary and pension insreases- based on short cyclical/term market upturns. ALL long term debt should be based on a non risk rate of return, Tresury Bills. That fact was not followed and did not happen at any muni.— December 4, 2010 8:27 a.m.
Carlsbad Whistleblower Quizzed Shooter at Kelly Elementary
No, I highly doubt most readers would find either of these personal descriptions interesting, and it certainly appears from the posts here I am correct. Age, skin color, creed, ethnicity, body type, they really don't add to the story IMO. BTW-we all did like the story.— December 3, 2010 4:27 p.m.
Bankruptcy — Good for San Diego
She had suggested in the Reader in 2003 that the City would have to file for bankruptcy ============ We will never get out of the pension hole, the hole is TOO BIG and the structural deficit will continue to make it even bigger. BK is coming one way or the other, whether KFC files or the one who is elected after him.— December 3, 2010 3:39 p.m.
So-Called Recovery Sputters. Unemployment Rises, Jobs Barely Up
Well gold was stuck at or around the $300 mark for 20 years+, all thru the 90's and early 2000's, just saw the NY spot price today and it was $1,300.— December 3, 2010 3:37 p.m.
Bankruptcy — Good for San Diego
As much as I hate what Golding did-it was Jack McGory who was the one who destroyed the cities finances with his harebrained schemes to underfund the pension system while at the same time jacking the pensions retroactively-absolute fraud.— December 3, 2010 10:07 a.m.
Carlsbad Whistleblower Quizzed Shooter at Kelly Elementary
I agree, that was a cheap shot that served no purpose. I hope they edit the article. She should be worshipped, not slammed with backhanded insults.— December 3, 2010 10:06 a.m.
Carlsbad Whistleblower Quizzed Shooter at Kelly Elementary
“You better run, ’cause I’m going to shoot you dead!” In fact, two second-grade girls were struck in the arm by bullets. ======================= Why would anyone target small children?? Makes no sense unless mentally ill. I am SO glad none of the children were killed-that would, and easily could have, been the worst day anyone has ever seen (well, since that women shot up a San Diego school playground 30 years ago). . . Durkee was glad she was able to help. “I was just doing my job for those little children.” =========================== Thank God you saved them. It really is a miracle no children were killed.— December 3, 2010 10:04 a.m.
Chula Vista Prepares for Cross-Border Violence and More
More and more City employees get hired either because of their military background, City mandated preference or by the old boy network... ================ I guarantee you at least HALF, if not 75%, of the CVPD is ex military, and the remaining officers are just like you said-nepotism, cronyism and lawsuit consent decree hires. If you hired gov positions purely on civil service testing (objective written tests instead of subjective oral interviews) the entire make up of the personnel would be 180 degrees different.— December 3, 2010 9:57 a.m.
Chula Vista Prepares for Cross-Border Violence and More
The city council plays into this insatiable appetite by acting like grant money is free money. ============ And THAT is a HUGE part of the problem, that this money is "free", thus it is to be squandered as to how these clowns see fit.— December 3, 2010 9:54 a.m.
