So-Called Recovery Sputters. Unemployment Rises, Jobs Barely Up
but what people need to understand now is that they are shipping white collar and office work overseas as we ======================= LOL...the University of Michigan Law School-one of the top 10 LS's in the nation, had on campus interviews for people who wanted to supervise "document review" of INDIAN LAWYERS(temp, mundane legal work that pays $25/hour and allows new lawyers an income in the states) in INDIA!!!!!!! When a top 10 LS is encouraging their grads to go to INDIA to find work/jobs you know we are in the toilet!— December 5, 2010 5:22 p.m.
A Ride To The Lahaina Beach House
My friend actually was the one that opened the Lahaina Beach House 25+ years ago. I hate the place, have never bought a drink there, have only been inside one time, and I lived at Mission Beach for years.— December 5, 2010 5:14 p.m.
It’s That Most Wonderful Time

When did the PF pensions change to 3%@50 and was it retro for then current PD or was it a "from this point forward" change. ================== SB400 was a pension change written by the STATE public safety unions, CHP and prison guards. It lowered the pension age to 50-from 55 and raised the payout from a 2% per year multiplier to 3% (50% increase)- to a maximum of 90% at 30 years. It was applied RETROACTIVELY. SB400 was approved in 199 by Grey Davis and implemented in 2000. So if you were retiring in 2000 with a $6K per month pension-SB400 jacket it to 9K. Then all the state subdivisions (cities and counties) made the old "me too" claims. The problems were many, but the MAIN problem was the retroactive increase. Mike Aguirre started the San Diego lawsuit as a conflict of interest, but amended it to also include the reatroactive portion as illegal. This retroactive issue will be settled by the CA Supreme Court b/c Orange County has it challenged right now at the appellate level, and who ever loses there will seek review by the CA Supreme Court.— December 5, 2010 11:53 a.m.
So-Called Recovery Sputters. Unemployment Rises, Jobs Barely Up
Founder has a good plan-why can't the Congress use it??? Or one similar to it?? Oh, because then they would not be padding their own pockets at the expense of the middle class, my bad, I should have known that by now. Congress exists not to serve the average working American who has no voice today, but the special interest ($$$$$) that pad their pockets.— December 4, 2010 3:58 p.m.
Chula Vista Prepares for Cross-Border Violence and More
I only hope all those with "PINK SLIP" friends and family start getting very active in CV so that this not only does not keep happening but everyone starts electing Leaders that will themselves reduce the Pension PORK for all CITY Employees! ================= I'll second this motion. . . It is really too bad that all CV Workers did not agree to take a bit of a pay cut based upon their salary instead of seeing of their fellow employees laid off! =============== When it gets right down to it, these people are selfish, they put themselves ahead of the community-and co workers- when doing essentially destroys the community. If the top compensated empoyees (especially those in the $100K+ club like the cops, ff's, city managers and so forth) took 15% compensation cuts there would be no need to lay off others.— December 4, 2010 3:55 p.m.
Diana Gonzalez Murder Case Prompts March on San Diego D.A.’s Office
is anyone safe anywhere when a insane husband or boyfriend is in a murderous rage??? i think not! ================== No, nothing anyone can do to protect you- except yourself. You are the first line of defense, and it is reason #1 that we should have a "right to carry" law for firearms. If you are threatened like this the ONLY way to protect yourself is with a firearm. It is not just women though. It does happen to men-although not nearly as often (Think Betty Broderick), and even worse, to innocent children.— December 4, 2010 3:40 p.m.
Meeting to Discuss Food Stamp Program in San Diego County
San Diego County does an AWFUL job of administering the foodstamp program. It just goes to show you that the gov cannot do anything right. In addition for every 20 cents given out in FGS aid, it takes $1 of overhead to administer-that is not a very good ratio-in fact if it were a charity it would be considered a fraud.— December 4, 2010 3:37 p.m.
So-Called Recovery Sputters. Unemployment Rises, Jobs Barely Up
A day or two ago, Bernanke was quoted as being concerned about the fact that the "recovery" is not bringing employment growth. ==================== Bernanke should have been canned 5 years ago.— December 4, 2010 8:38 a.m.
So-Called Recovery Sputters. Unemployment Rises, Jobs Barely Up
Maybe the lawmakers in Washington can explain just how job creation is suppose to happen when more jobs and industries are outsourced to India, China and other countries every day? Our teenagers and college students can’t secure part time jobs because those have been taken by immigrants (legal or otherwise). Automation, consolidation and integration of industries into near-monopolies have shed millions of positions. =================== Wow, Ponzi just gave the three strikes of jobs/employment destruction; 1) Outsourcing to 3rd world countries-with no regulations 2) Cheap immigrant labor driving down non/semi skilled US jobs 3) Monopoly/oligarchy industries (especially gas/oil/energy) #1 is the worst-but all 3 together essentially has wiped out the American middle class IMO.— December 4, 2010 8:38 a.m.
