NY Times Questions For-Profit Colleges' Exploitation of Veterans. Bridgepoint Criticized
These so called institutions should be REQUIRED to carry and keep all the paper they write. They can be the ones holding the loan debts-not US taxpayers. Of course then the scam would be up.— December 10, 2010 11:14 a.m.
Gary Aguirre forces hand of SEC
What the gov is doing to Assange, like I said earlier, is an assault on the values this country was built on-freedom of speech, the First Amendment and the free press. That is a collateral assault on the people itself. Today it is Assange, tomorrow everyone else. If we let them succeed, we will be like China, Iran and all the other totalitarian nations that limit free speech to control their people.— December 9, 2010 10:43 p.m.

I think much of his anguish resulted from the DA's investigation. I have always questioned that investigation. ======================== You mean why go after the weak, the innocent, those least able to fight back??? Because that is what government does. They are the school yard bully. They never go after those who can fight back, or those that are connected-only those who can't. Without going into the merits of whether the GLT inflated their sales/circulation figures, in the totality of the situation you have to agree that it doesn't amount to jack, while serious felons like Matthew "Beau" La Madrid and his brother in crime Lance La Madrid skate on bye with free passes, or KFC Sanders sugar daddy Aaron Feldman and Sunroad screw over the public with impunity.— December 9, 2010 10:37 p.m.

Don, thick skin is a necessity for your blog. I don't think you have slimed anyone, not even unintentionally.— December 9, 2010 10:29 p.m.
NY Times Questions For-Profit Colleges' Exploitation of Veterans. Bridgepoint Criticized
The story points out that Bridgepoint last year spent more on marketing and promotion ===================== Fraud. Straight up fraud. 90%+ of these loans will default. The Bridgepoint shareholders and executives will be long gone with the millions of taxpayer dolalrs that were spent on a useless education from these fraudsters.— December 9, 2010 10:27 p.m.
Gary Aguirre forces hand of SEC
The spread is worse today than it was in the 1920's. Revolt is coming, pitch forks, tar, feathers and who knows what else.— December 9, 2010 7:34 p.m.

LA Tmes has it under their breaking news section-along with a good sized pic of Michael Portantino. Very sad news. . http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2010/12/san… .— December 9, 2010 7:19 p.m.

I don't think this is a hit piece. But that is not what I want to comment on. It is very sad news, as I had met him before back in the early/mid 90's, just through business. He was very straight forward with me- and easy to deal with. I was working on a real estate deal that never happened but he made a good impression on me. I feel very badly, and not just him, but also his family. No matter how bad things are, or were going to get, everyone needs to know you can get through it-especially with strong family and friend support. That it got to this point shows a break down. RIP.— December 9, 2010 4:27 p.m.
Chargers to Play 2012 in L.A., Says Columnist
We all should cry, "Foul" and ask for an instant replay! ======================== LOL-I agree. If only we had an honest referee, who would penalize KFC Sanders for illegal proceedure.— December 8, 2010 6:49 p.m.
Gary Aguirre forces hand of SEC
The securities agency’s own inspector general studied the matter and came to the same conclusion, even recommending that Aguirre’s supervisors be disciplined. (They still haven’t been.) ======================= Hahah......hold gov employees accountable! What a laugher that one is. Never happens. . . . . He points out that media star Martha Stewart was convicted and served time for lying to government investigators, but Stewart was never charged with criminal insider trading. (She was charged with civil insider trading.) ====================== IMO Martha Stewart did nothing wrong. She UNINTENTIONALLY made a mistake as to an action that happened years earlier. I was never a fan of Martha Stewart until the gov railroaded her. Funny how standing up to a bully-which is what gov is- can make odd alliances.— December 8, 2010 6:47 p.m.
