Many Jobs Are More Dangerous Than Police, Firefighting
No one can carry an employee at basically full salary and benefits for more time in retirement than when they were actually working. Can you imigane if the employees-like safety- did other less physically demanding jobs until age 65, or 66, ot 67?? We would double our municipal employees without adding one cent in costs. Service levels would be sky high (at least in theory).— February 24, 2011 7:55 p.m.
Wisconsin Governor Proposes Deep Benefit Slashes
The Wisonsin brewhaha is really turned out to be a pretty big event, it is on ALL the cable news chanels, non stop. I think that running out to prevent a quorum is really bad precedent though. This move could break down our democratic system. If you don't like some legislation and don't have the votes to defeat it you run out of state and prevent a quorum-bad bad move.— February 24, 2011 7:52 p.m.

Wisconsin Governor Proposes Deep Benefit Slashes
Here we go again. I have gonme over this with you in the past-you are flat out wrong; Public employees, whether collective bargaining exists or not, will always be able to organize associations, show up at meetings and ask for higher pay and benefits. ================ No, they cannot just "show up at meetings" and ask for higher pay. Who told you that lie? That is not how raises are handled-in the public sector or anywhere else. . . . . The advantage of collective bargaining is to formalize the process and require BOTH parties to bargain in good faith. ============= No, the advantage of collective bargaining in a gov monopoly is to defraud taxpayers by quid pro quo transactions. . . . If the public employer can't reach agreement with the unions, it can impose its last offer unilaterally. The employer always has the final say. =========== Another hige whopper. I guess you don't know what binding arbitration is, practiced throughout this state, do you?????? . . With regard to the clout of unions, I can only speak from my own observations as to local unions, such as SEIU at the County level. They are wimps. After a few rounds of negotiation, they take something exactly or very close to what the County offered in the first place. ============ Again, this is totally false. . . . When times have been tough, the unions have agreed to wage freezes, even effectively cuts (e.g., contributing more to retirement.) ============ No, the unions (usually) REFUSE to give up ANYTHING when times are tough, that is why there is such a battle going on in WI over collective bargaining rights. . . Things may be different on the state level, but their influence is no greater than that of business lobbyists whose clients are regulated by government. ================ Again, you are just very misinformed. Public employee unions give BY FAR the most campaign money out of ANY entity in this state, they FAR EXCEED any business contributions. You were the same person that said public unions are not very powerful in your last post, so you really do have a credibility problem!— February 24, 2011 4:33 p.m.
Many Jobs Are More Dangerous Than Police, Firefighting
The reason for lower retirement ages for police and fire is not because of danger, but because of the desire to have departments with younger, more physically fit people. Danger was never the reason. =================== Actually that is not the reason. I have never seen any muni claim they wanted age 50 retirements because they desire "younger" cops, but let me play devils advocate here. Why can't they have the older cops rotate into dispatch then? Or crossing guard duty at the local K-6?? Or litter pick up on HWY 52?? Are those duties too "dangerous" for the cops at age 50??? BTW-Have you ever heard of age discrimnation lawsuits? You simply cannot give away multi million dollar pensions at age 50 b/c you want "younger" cops/FF's/whatever, money does not grow on tress and the roads are not paved with gold in America, or the states, or the muni's.— February 24, 2011 4:23 p.m.

Stanley J. Lovett Charged with Suspicion of Molesting a Minor _REMOVED PER JH 3.18
...IF this man had an "Alibi" do you really believe he would have been arrested because a young girl pointed her finger at him? =================== You have no clue to how our crimnal justice system works. YES, all it takes to ARREST someone is to have them say you committed a crime-that is it, it is the "probable cause" standard, just about the LOWEST standard of proof there is. I guess your dumb butt has never heard of Dale Akiki. . . . Do you honestly believe that all the police officers and detectives would arrest a man "WITH AN ALIBI" just because a 15 year old girl pointed her finger and said "Yes that is him." ================== There were not 15 cops making a decision on the "arrest", there was ONE, the supervising Sgt. on duty. And YES, pointing your finger is all it takes. The only IGNORANT one here is you, Clueless. Once again, Google Dale Akiki, and then come back here and man up to us over your dumb comments .........— February 24, 2011 12:06 p.m.
Ban the Pit Bull
Nan, this young one Nelly is pretty big, a good 65#, and she is so hyper she gets everyone else on edge, so I am teaching her some manners and some soicla skills! Nelly is so lovable, she just loves too play, but she goes overbaord on it and I am working with her. She is great to crash out with, big soft pillow, sleeps very soundly on her back! Teddy my partially blind senior is also nice to crash out with, he likes to cuddle up next to you and sleep in a little ball....Teddy's adopter is driving out in March from Minnesota to pick him up and bring him back to his new home.— February 23, 2011 5:58 p.m.

I have three Pitties right now-one mine and two fosters, my senior Pittie is Nala, a foster named Teddy who is partially blind and a one year old crazy CRAZY girl named Nelly. Wonderful dogs. I don't know if this link will work for everyone, it is from Facebook and really tells the Pitties story in pictures, an awesome album; . http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1754718623… .— February 23, 2011 12:19 p.m.
Bridgepoint: Bad for Students, Good for Gamblers?
And I should rephrase my statement earlier because you are right. I do not think that Bridgepoint is a good example of capitalism... ========= OK, now we're getting somewhere!— February 23, 2011 12:08 p.m.
