Shelley Malil Sent to Donovan State Prison to Begin Life Sentence
I don't understand how he got a life sentence for almost killing someone. These guys who obviously commit murder get lighter sentences or get off altogether all the time. I wish I had gone to law school so that I could get all this legal stuff figured out. ============================== He got an indeterminate sentence I am sure, probably something like 15,20,25-life. He will get out in maybe 30 years. But to answer your question how our justice system is currently working-it is ALL POLITICS. We just had the son of Fabian Nunez, a state Democratic leader, have his sentence reduced form 16 years to 7, thanks to Fabian's close buddy, Arnold the Dorkof a Gov. That act should outrage every person in this state. I was always a big fan of Arnold, until he did that. I no longer care about a thing he does. He is DOA to me.— March 19, 2011 6:17 p.m.

It is most irritating that those who oppose her bid for mayor are automatically suspect as anti-Lesbian and bigoted. ================ Opposing public emplpoyee compensation results in the same treatment, that the ones opposing are; 1) jealous 2) haters 3) have "pension envy" 4) anti-gov 5) insert any wild label here— March 19, 2011 1:13 p.m.

Wow, that is a really good story Mindy! Thanks for sharing. So I take it you are pretty well off-or at leats I hope so with $15 million made on one tune.— March 19, 2011 1:09 p.m.
Harbor Drive Pedestrian Bridge Opens to Little Fanfare
After nearly three years of construction, the $26.8 million Harbor Drive Pedestrian Bridge, connecting Petco Park to the convention center, opened to foot traffic on Friday, March 18 =========== I would like to shoot whoever is responsible for greenlighting this white elephant bridge to nowhere.— March 19, 2011 1:06 p.m.

Railsplitter, we all pretty much agree with you, but I think the term "queer" is generally deemed a derogatory way to describe gays. At least I think it is, I may be wrong.— March 18, 2011 5:52 p.m.

He was an actor, who may or may not have a home and other assets. I woudl think he does have some assets, and yes, if they do not win by default it will be a waste of the victims money to go after him-the costs to litigate will be far more than the assets of the average actor. Remember, 96% of all actors earn less than $50K per year. Is he in the 5% that make more? Probably but I bet not by much. If no default win, then maybe she is doing it for personal satisfaction, which I would probably do too. I have had to sue people who were/are "judgment proof" in the past, to make an example out of them. I knew there would be no money to collect, and I did win on a default, but it was worth it to me because it sent out a message loud and clear-if someone tries to jerk my chain I will spend the time effort and money to go after them even though I won't be able to collect from, then everyone KNOWS I will do it against someone who does have assets. That sends a powerful message.— March 18, 2011 10:58 a.m.
Many Jobs Are More Dangerous Than Police, Firefighting
Ms. Mouse, cops and ff's in this state are comping in the top 3-5% of income earners in the nation, BEFORE any overtime is added in and these jobs have tremendous amount sof OT built into the job. They have bullet proof job security with no risk or chance of ever being laid off or fired short of a felony criminal conviction. The background needed to be hired-as young as age 20.5- is next to nothing and these jobs are not given out based on merit civil service testing. You need to understand that your hubby is no better than anyone else working a trade occupation (cop//ff are not professions), and as much as you and him and the rest of the cop/ff industrial complex try to paint yourselves as superheros today, the public is not biting anymore. The gravy train, wealth accumulation compensation days are in their final days. You can take that to the bank.— March 18, 2011 10:49 a.m.
Are American Engineers in Short Supply?
Mostly Microsoft tried to acquire companies with innovative products. =============== I don't think Microsoft has ever really innovated anything on their own, they pretty much bought everything they have, just like you said. I will say it is hard to imagine MS in 1995 ever losing it's edge in tech because it was so dominate, sort of like what we see today with Google but more so-yet MS has taken a mighty tumble from being the Tech leader of the 1990's. Even MS Office has lost HUGE market share with the introduction of free products like Open Office.— March 17, 2011 9:58 p.m.
Are American Engineers in Short Supply?
I seriously doubt XEROX let him in without knowing he was going to look at what they were doing, especially considering some of Apple's engineers had worked at PARC ==================== Actually there were SEVERAL engenieers at PARC that asked the guy showing Jobs all of XEROX's trade secrets "what the hell are you doing??", and that is well documented. Jobs should have never been allowed into the research and development center of a competitor, never. That is just beyond bizarre.— March 17, 2011 9:48 p.m.
