No Labor Protests in San Diego
Ia agree on everything you said. Thye income gap I am sick of, it is a rigged system. The tax breaks, again, it is due ti excessive power of the corporations worth tens of billions and buying off the Congress. There are 480 lobbyists for every ONE Congressman in DC, thta is the problem. Money buying influence, which in reality is money buying corruption. The Fed, the monetary policy, the marco econimic policy (H-1B Visa, outsourcing) and a million other things need fixing. But collective bargaining is just another part of the overall Big Problem-all need fixing. My new talking point; "Big Public Sector Unions and Wall Street Investment Banks are the Casinos of Blue Collar and White Collar Organized American Crime Families of the 21st Century. With the aid of the Congress they Extort and Gamble with the Jobs/Pension Funds/Future/Hope of every real middle class and poor worker and citizen in America."— March 30, 2011 4:17 p.m.

Both sides of the aisle are crooked as a dog's hind leg. ===================== There is no difference whatsoever between Democrats and Republicans today, maybe there never was. They are two sides of the same coin-both bought and paid for special interest whores. They have destabilized the country to such a degree I fear it could lead to chaos and anarchy of the kind we have never before witnessed. Big Public Sector Unions and Wall Street Investment Banks are the Casinos of Blue Collar and White Collar Organized American Crime Families of the 21st Century. With the aid of the Congress they Extort and Gamble with the Jobs/Pension Funds/Future/Hope of every real middle class and poor worker and citizen in America.— March 30, 2011 4:09 p.m.

If they are doing it to get a shorter sentence I disagree with you Don. These people cannot be trusted, they can and will do (and say) anything to get ahead-as in a shorter sentence.— March 30, 2011 4:05 p.m.

We left San Diego and moved to a town of 5,000 with an amazing amount of culture. It's one of the best things we ever did. =================== Doesn't it snow there?— March 30, 2011 12:55 p.m.

Housing has never been in the toilet as bad as it is today, never-ever. Add to that the fact that we have never had a recession this bad in modern times, not since the Great Depression 82 years ago. Then throw in all the manufacturing jobs and other semi skilled good paying backbone of America jobs have been sent overseas and we are really at a time in our history that has not been experienced before. So it could be 2-5 years, it could longer than that as you predict. It is such a wild card prediction based on so many interlocking variables that it is hard to figure out/guesstimate when this depression/downturn will end. I know one thing is certain, unless (and until) we STOP shipping our semi-skilled, good paying jobs overseas (and stop importing foreign nationals for our skilled tech jobs) we are going to be a nation in decline. The nation will start to follow in the footsteps of Detroit- which today has a population of 750K people, down from 1 million 10 years ago and 1.8 million (60% DECLINE) from the 1970's. America is going to look like modern day Detroit if we don't get some leadership who knows what the hell they are doing in the White House. I would not vote for Donald Trump-and his running for President is a gimmick, he won't run, but I sure as hell would make him the Secretary of Labor because he is the ONLY person in the nation today that understands the macroeconomics of our nation. Bushie was about as far on the other end of that spectrum from Trump as you can get. Obama is not focused, he is doing band-aid type healthcare reform when the country is having the biggest economic heart attack in it's history and is on life support. Someone needs to save us.— March 30, 2011 12:53 p.m.

Well, Barry let me down. I thought it was bad enough that he was going to plead guilty to fraud, but now it appears he was hired to do a fraudulent dog and pony show on Lennar. And then to pile on more underhanded dealings he is back stabbing the guy he conspired with to give himself a lighter sentence. Absolutely pathetic. This is for everyone, if you ever EVER get caught up in a plea deal NEVER rat anyone out -unelss you're facing a life sentence with no parole. Everyone hates a rat, including the cops. You will be known as a rat your entire life and even the ones you helped-law enforcement- will shun you as a rat. LE teaches and trains their employees to NEVER, EVER trust a rat-never. If you do the crime just suck it up and do the time. 1, 5 or 10 years in the Joint for keeping your mouth shut will pay dividends to you the rest of your life.— March 30, 2011 12:38 p.m.

Visduh-there are certain counties that will let you TRANSFER your TAX BASE from your current property to a new one, but not all counties do it, and I do not know all the details, but I do know that this is a fact b/c I have relatives that have done it within the last 8 years.— March 29, 2011 5:31 p.m.

However, that doesn't mean the state should take bargaining rights from public employees ========== I think taking collective bargaining rights away is appropriate in the PUBLCI sector only-we can see the problems with it in the public sector, there is no true "bargaining" when NO side is representing taxpayers/workign class people, doing hard "bargaining" on their behalf. These retroactive pension increases, the Cadillac healthcare, the vesting in as little as 5 short years entitling virtually all public employees to a pension and free medical for life-those things are not out there in the real world for a reason-they would NEVER be allowed in true collective bargaining because the entity allowing it would go bust. I would be open to other alternatives if it leveled the playing field, but I don't see how the taxpayers are going to be properly represented agaisnt a public sector monopoly with "collective bargaining" when there is no true bargaining.— March 29, 2011 2:55 p.m.
