Taxpayers' Association Forms, Takes On Insurance Companies
How about this $150 per parcel per year fire protection "fee" that was just signed to law by Brown? ========================== I am fairly confident that this will be ruled unconstitutional. As will the Amazon collection of internet sales taxes. Brown needs to address employee compensation, that is by FAR the biggest driver of the budget and it is going to destroy us if not addressed. You cannot have gov employees getting 9% raises every year over a 4 year contract-as the prison guards did under Davis. Nor have millions of highly paid, EXTREMELY HIGH PAID, gov employees like cops, ff's, life guards and the 19 other gov blue collar occupations classified as "public safety". Retiring at age 50 with the same salary they were making with automatic annual COLA's. Simply not enough money.— July 10, 2011 12:04 a.m.
Sweetwater Union Interim Superintendent Ed Brand’s Past
Brand is the epitome of what is wrong with the public education system and its management. Jerks like him end up with quarter million salaries, and they couldn't manage a supermarket, let alone a school district. ================== I agree with this 100%. I have to laugh at one of the funniest education job interviews I ever had. It was @John Muir Middle School in LA, on Vermont Ave and Slauson-which is a very rough area, very dangerous area. The principal, who had a EdD degree, was without a doubt one of the biggest morons I have ever seen in any school, in any industry, in any employment situation. She was so unorganized and dumb it was amazing she could have ever been APPOINTEED to be a principal. She would not last 1 week in the private sector. Biggest airhead I have ever met in any job. Anywhere. Incompetent like nothing you have ever seen. So I go there for an interview 4 or 5 days before the school year starts, and this is in the ghetto, the worst area you coud imgaine, and in this ghetto the PARENTS of this school, the poorest of the poor, were PICKETING to have this principal removed, PICKETING before the shcool year even started, from the poorest of the poor-but even they knew she had no business running that shcool. UNfriggen believable! She had NO BUSINESS being in ANY position in education. She was simply incpompetent like nothing I have ever seen. That someone like her could be runninhg a school with an annual budget of several million dollars is just beyond crazy. LAUSD yanked her. They had to. Too much heat was coming-it was hilarious because the news media covered this and it was the same day I was interviewing. That is gov employment for you. It is not a merit based system. It is socialistic in nature where the incompetent-but connected- employees thrive, and that is why socialism does not work. Including education and gov.It is not merit based.— July 9, 2011 11:52 p.m.
Job Gains Shockingly Low. Double-Dip?
Government hiring fights unemployment. Government firing puts people out of work. ================ The taxes saved from the fired gov employees will be much better utilized in the private sector to effeciently drive GDP and the economy, and will likely produce 2-3 private sector jobs for every 1 gov job lost.— July 9, 2011 11:40 p.m.

Housing is going to be weak for several more years. Best, Don Bauder =============== Sure is; 3 years needed to clear ‘distressed’ homes July 9th, 2011, Jeff Collins . http://lansner.ocregister.com/2011/07/09/3-years-… . Lyric Opera Poised to Sell North Park Theatre
I love it down there. Founder, the owner of Stern's Gym said he got a real bad deal on his lease renewal back in 2004 or so, and he said if it was not squared up he was moving, is Stern's still there on Granada?????— July 9, 2011 6:21 p.m.
Sweetwater Union Interim Superintendent Ed Brand’s Past
Brand attempted to launch a similar program in San Marcos, but trustees were reluctant to fund a coordinator’s position for Partnership for Success. ======================== Brand got canned from San Marcos for trying to get one of his cronies hired as a K-6 teacher, and the school district trustees told him that cronyism is not how things worked in San Marcos. Brand was a decent manager at SUHSD, but he has the same problem nearly all gov employees have, they are not held to the same standard a private businbess is held to and could never ever succeed in the real world using their substandard gov ethics ot responsibilities. I persoanlly had some problems at SUHSD and Brand's handling of that matter was typical for a gov employee-sunstandard and verging on patheic with no accountability- and that is exactly how he ended up gettign canned in San Marcos— July 9, 2011 6:19 p.m.

San Diego Unified Restores 300 Positions
Does anyone else notice that this cycle of issuing hundreds or thousands of layoff notices to teachers and then rescinding most or all of them has been going on almost every year since the 80's? ========== Thsi is actually the FIRST time I have seen actual lay offs from the thousands of "pink slip" claims made annually.— July 8, 2011 9:57 p.m.

Expect things to get much worse Nationally ============ It's definitely worse. I read today that OC homes, at leats in many upscale areas are down 10+% from a year ago!— July 8, 2011 9:56 p.m.
