La Jolla's Seven Seaside Caves
California’s eight year gold rush enabled the remote western territory to blossom into full fledged statehood with half a million new residents, many of whom had emigrated from Asia. == Actually CA never was a "territory" per se, the gold rush of 1849( and the millions of people that arrived that year) allowed CA to by pass the territory status and go straight into statehood.— November 23, 2011 6:16 p.m.

How Sempra used cash-balance plans
Plos I recently read that 84% of private sector employees had defined benefit retirement plans in the early 1980s .... As of 2009, that number is down to 21% ... == I know of only a handful of FORTUNE 500 companies that offer DB's and they are no where near the kind of DB's gov offers, which is 90% of pay indexed for inflation for life at age 50-55. There is no way 21% of the private sector has DB pensions for new hires, I doubt there are even 3-5% of the Fortune 500 that have DB's for rank and file employees.— November 23, 2011 11:59 a.m.

Democrats to Stage Fundraising Bash at Lerach Estate
2.wow...what an absolute smear. my friend's aunt had a neighbor who had her entire life's savings of $200,000 in Enron and lost it all. because of mr. lerach's efforts, she was able to recover abouit 65-70% of what she lost. == I actually had downloaded the Lerach class action lawsuit against Enron- where he represented UC the largest creditor. It was over 500 pages long. I don't think anyone came out of enron with anything close to 65%. Total losses at ENRON were over $75 billion nad the recovery fund was like less than 10% of the losses, whch is about right in these types of cases. UC recovered less than 10%— November 22, 2011 12:34 p.m.
