The Original Pancake House: San Diego
The Original Pancake House is a very good breakfest house, but they are VERY PRICEY. They are over priced by at least 30%, and in soem cases 50%, but the KM location has always done well. The Poway location has an idiot running it and I know that location is below average, and always will be.— October 9, 2012 6:43 p.m.
Look at Your Interview From the Employer’s Point of View
**Many times, the only information the company has about you is what you tell them, what is listed on your résumé, and what your references say about you.** Dude, wake up, this is the internet age where you can find volumes of info an anyone within seconds, and it is not limited to the two things you just listed-what you give them and references-if it was everyone would get hired from glowing reviews. The problem I find today is employers want all the things you listed, promptness, not calling in sick, doing work with pride, representing the company in a positive light and a million other things- BUT they want to pay you minimum wage and NO benefits. You will ge what you pay for (unless you're the gov-then you get GED hires with $200K compensation deals). And the risk is a two way street, YOU are taking a Risk on the employer. I don't know if you have ever worked straight commission, I have, it is very dangerous and a HUGE risk if the employer has told lies or does not live up top THEIR end of the relationship. IMO there are plenty of good quality employees, you just need to make sure they get what they are worth.— October 9, 2012 6:35 p.m.
Ocean Beach Pier Jump Goes Unpunished
**"In the same year, lifeguards assigned to harbor patrol functions were designated as harbor police, which eventually made these lifeguards peace officers."** A few years back SD life guards wanted full Peace Officer powers. They didn't get it. I don't see how a life guard can legally be given **full** Peace Officer status under Penal Code without full academy training. I couldn't find anything under PC 830 et seq. but that may not be the final word. Every person in CA can make a private person arrest in CA, but does a LG get more than that??? As I recall the argument that they could make an arrest as a private party was why they were getting blow back on full Peace Office status. But if they are writing citations for court they have something.— October 9, 2012 6:28 p.m.
Wealthy charter school advocate gives cash to interest group opposing San Diego school bond measure

Wealthy charter school advocate gives cash to interest group opposing San Diego school bond measure
**Viaduct. 9, 2012 If I resided within that district, I'd refuse to vote for it. They have raised billions (yes, with a "b") in bond issue money in recent years to refurbish and add to the schools, and still it isn't enough** Every dingle school district in this state floats bond issues every two years, it frees up MORE money for the teachers, and everyone in between. Teachers in CA today ON AVERAGE earn 370% ($108K with fringes) of the median state salary of $29K, some make 650% more ($190K). Don hates to hear this.— October 9, 2012 6:07 p.m.
Irwin Jacobs bankrolls $2.8 billion San Diego Unified school bond campaign; Buzz Woolley opposes
**I have another idea. Jacobs seems to have more loot than he knows what to do with. So, why doesn't he come up with a billion (yes, with a "b") and just donate it to the school district?** Because BillionAIRES don't put their OWN money where their mouth is, not when they can get the little guy making $20K-$40K per year to cover it. And if a bond measure that BIG passes in this environment then something is very wrong. SDUSD should be able to pour $50 million into this bond and it should still fail by 10-15 points.— October 9, 2012 6:04 p.m.
Wealthy La Jolla and Rancho Santa Fe denizens pouring big cash into Southeast school board race
**And too often, they are involved in financial mismanagement, incompetence or chicanery.** Very true- and the reason, as in all high levels of gov, the people in charge are chosen on cronyism and nepotism and never on merit , the more $$ involved the higher the degree of gov ineptitude.— October 9, 2012 1:38 p.m.
