Now that's devotion! How many times would I drive an hour from Chicago to the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg because their two big houses were far superior to anything in my neighborhood. As for my dinner and a movie, many a night I'd sit gazing out the front window of Sally's Barbecue at the fleet sequential lights encasing the Nortown Theatre marquee. Unfortunately, my folks never paid attention to showtimes. When dinner ended the movie began no matter how much we'd already missed. That stopped, at my insistence, by the time I hit 10. What was the first film you remember seeing by yourself? Mine was "The Chalk Garden," which can be chalked up to an everlasting crush on Hayley Mills. Needless to say, "The Parent Trap" it wasn't.

U-T finally concedes what everybody knows

San Diego needs a new stadium like Junior Seau needed a hole in his head. What a profound waste of tax-payer's money. Instead, use a couple million to build a single-screen CineramaDome on the waterfront. Whatever's left should go into constructing a shelter for battered women. Expect a surge in spousal abuse cases once husbands and boyfriends sober up to find there's no more home team to root for.
