Destiny's Rainbow
Good luck on those rellenos, gringo. I'm sure they will be fabulous. Pasilla chiles? Big Jims? Cotija cheese inside? Anything exotic, like raisins or nuts--or 'autentico?' Sorry, the chef in me can't help but fish shamelessly for your no doubt excellent recipes, and have NOT forgotten about that mole verde! :) Beautifully written, as always. I'm so sorry to hear of Juan's adverse experiences with automatic bias; I know that you tend to react to such things with a patience born of experience, and a writer's commitment to understanding and accepting what is human. For me, the blood still boils at the ignorance, and yes--I believe we still have a long long way to go--an outlook born necessarily--and reluctantly--from education and experience, despite my wish to focus on the best of human nature.— August 8, 2009 8 p.m.

"I cooked five pounds of fresh fish [...] Apparently, the other end of destiny’s rainbow is right here, in my kitchen" Yum! Apparently it is!— August 8, 2009 7:49 p.m.
You Must Keep Reading
EricBlair wrote: "In the final analysis, Robert A. Heinlein put it best: "...the acme of prose style is exemplified by that simple, graceful clause: 'Pay to the order of...'" As a scholar of literature, I thank the gods that this reductive attitude for pay for pages is not really the case. If you are not moved to write great prose, there will be no analysis for you.— August 8, 2009 1:12 p.m.
Driving Drunk Is Not Easy
Rickeysays, that summary is extremely ignorant and pointless. I’m going to help you beef up your weak arguments and up your game, girlfriend! You'll probably thank me eternally for leading you to your true life as an eliminative materialist. If you are still teaching btw, you know you should be able to access better databases than Wiki, but feel free to request anything of me if you cannot--I still have access to everything via NYU. Here goes! A discussion format is used here, in this online journal about the philosophy of the mind and brain, including folks from cog sci and the neurosciences, and very importantly—philosophy as it intersects with them.. Some commenters appear to be undergrads, but all in all, a useful site: http://philosophyofbrains.com/2008/02/09/when-was… Overview of divisions and categories of American philosophical thought; includes the Churchlands: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_philosophy Because you most often use ‘evidence’ concerning tests to measure cognition and/or intelligence: Understanding the specific fields you need in order to argue against “social influence” from a philosophical and physiological standpoint: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosophy_of_mind http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosophy_of_science http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Materialism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irreducibility Finally, the Churchlands’ own brand of philosophy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eliminative_material…— August 8, 2009 12:43 p.m.
Blackwater Head Wants to Rid World of Muslims: Testimony
re: #s 37, 43, & 48: Mr. Bauder, I think there is a real story here to be done on the Blackwater/Amway connection. What do you think? It is "sexy" enough to draw plenty of readers, as did your Metabolife coverage. Visduh commented in this vein: "If Prince recruits his "soulless" mercenaries using the Amway model, it could explain a lot about the company and about its employees. A LOT."— August 7, 2009 8:03 p.m.

Hey AG, I was wearing the "San Diego Vista" a couple months ago, and thought they looked like a Balboa Park view. I'll have to ask if that is what she had in mind when she printed them. AG wrote: "Did you know there's even one called "San Diego Vista?" (Although I can't see WHY it's called that.)" http://www.minxnails.com/cylantscart/ind...— August 6, 2009 10:15 p.m.

Yes, AG. I know the inventor and co-owner of the company, and my cousin takes care of US relations for the product, which is worn by Beyonce, Madonna, etc. etc. etc. They are keeping it exclusive at the moment, doing Vogue shoots. I think they should make Minx more available to the everyday woman--I'm stopped on the street constantly, and wish I had more answers for the Minx-hungry public. Yes, magics. I think we might have skull & crossbones designs. There are Harley Davidson ones too, which are sort of rock-n-roll. On election night, we had Minx with an actual photo of Obama on each nail :) Refried, sounds way worse than my "Liz Franks" injury. I hope you people won that game!— August 6, 2009 10:11 p.m.
