Faith and fire in El Fin Del Mundo
Another fascinating glimpse into El Fin del Mundo. I do give you credit, John--for thinking of your neighbors as well as yourself in such a situation. You are a hero, and I'm sure they agree :) As usual, some thoughtful and vivid prose: "Regardless of what the world thinks about Tijuana, I feel that living here in this land of clash and fusion gives the open-minded person the opportunity for a cultural enrichment unavailable to most of the two countries citizens... Trini was born and raised in the lush, green regions of Nayarit. She'd never seen a wind driven, out of control, fire in her life."— August 27, 2009 3:19 p.m.

Yes, Bingo, up pops Josh to his protege's rescuse. Josh, didn't I tell you about the company you would soon keep? I realize that you think the poor little psycho troll PP needs your support, and I also realize that you are looking for ANY possibility to troll me, since you have nothing better to do than nurse fabricated grudges. Anti-- where is that troll spray, dear? Yes, that is no "touche" on your part, so don't start "poppin' your collar," as Spliff would say. With Spliff, it was a matter of "Where does one even start?" in terms of his flawed thinking about evolution, for example--about which he could not consider scientific fact. But I mostly kept my silence because Spliff is a pretty gentle character, and never expressed violent intent toward anyone; I think you have a problem understanding the difference between a playful online personality and a stone sociopathic felon with murderous intent. I chose to be the voice of conscience until I bore and/or tire out (well, I am pretty bored, but hey, it's a good deed)--anyone on these threads consuming PP's posts and interacting with his spew as it he is a person of conscience and humanity should know about his horrific background. If he tells you he is sorry for it--take it for what it's worth.— August 27, 2009 12:38 p.m.

Well said, refried! I usually let OB in HD whisk me off to sweet sleep, but this treat will do nicely :) You know, Flaubert held to the same work ethic--one perfect page a day. I'd settle for one perfect sentence with adequate comma placement...— August 27, 2009 2:02 a.m.

Sure, I like maybe one Robbins novel as a lite read, but refried surely you aren't proposing he is the better writer?— August 27, 2009 1:39 a.m.

My take on the situation was based on forensics of PP's 'lifestyle,' which includes robbing a Hardee's at knifepoint, and expression of violent intent towards women. Hence, the literal interpretation of "stabbin'."— August 27, 2009 1:37 a.m.

PP contradicts all over himself: "SD? This isn't about publicity. I can see you're too stupid to realize that." "Bad publicity is better than no publicity....." And it isn't the first time narcissist PP has made this claim. Get your own facts straight. And I challenge you to find some kind of comeback that doesn't involve accusations of stupidity or simple curses. Like many residents, I do like this 'station.' You are a more recent errored phenomenon, just noise. I keep a blog here, and will be here long after you depart for more pressing troll opportunities, or finally get the funds and guts to pick up and move out of the city you hate so much.— August 26, 2009 10:48 p.m.

I've written before to ask why we are not able to access electronic archives for past articles. You guys obviously still have them, and these "Back When" snippets are fun, but make one want to read the whole piece. An electronic archive would make for more knowledgeable newer Reader readers, and certainly give some of the oldtimers a kick!— August 26, 2009 5:28 p.m.
