Ennio Morricone spaghetti Western soundtracks, tiki! Rocks! re: #17: Where's my closeup, Mr. DeMille? :)— September 28, 2009 3:52 p.m.
Trolling For Flamers
"and if i could I'd wished you there sitting right beside me for one of her last public performances...Namaste SDaniels" That would have been wonderful--a lovely wish, nan. I'm happy to have the recordings, though. Bee yap mmm bee yap, oohhhh, Mr. Paganini, please play that song for me/ and if you can't sing it, you'll... just have to...swinnnggg it... :)— September 28, 2009 3:45 p.m.
Home Is Where Cheap Rent Is
I didn't know Guy Debord killed himself. Will have to dig up that copy of Spectacle.— September 28, 2009 3:20 p.m.
Trolling For Flamers
"and hey...i'll get better beer next time we meet peeps" You're on, nan!— September 28, 2009 3:09 p.m.
Trolling For Flamers
I would cry, too! She is my vocal idol. A friend lent us some video of Ella performing on Frank Sinatra's show--Carlos Jobim was on one of the shows, too. Lady had 'it' right up to the end, didn't she? My favorite all-time of hers is "You Go To My Head." :)— September 28, 2009 3:08 p.m.
Trolling For Flamers
"...hence the taster at my side checking it out for a clever poison rimming the glass" nan, you should have a royal taster, but only part-time, and not for the sips of sparkling burgundy brew (go, Ella F.!) I offer you. You'll grow to trust me :) Lovely characterization of refried's words--they are sometimes gravelly and flecked with interesting stones along the way, too. The kind you skip across that tranquil pond :)— September 28, 2009 2:45 p.m.
Trolling For Flamers
After calling the fire dept, I received the following definitional tips: Anyone can flame in anger, a quick, hot-burning, but temporary flare. I think flaming is characterized by irrational, unproductive content such as name-calling. If the flaming grows and sustains, you are dealing with a troll: A troll is a raging fire that sweeps across the boards, licking ferociously at anyone in its path. ;)— September 28, 2009 2:42 p.m.
Trolling For Flamers
#1: Priceless!!!! nan: "...my eyes and sensibilities are a mixed bag of the world from the 1950's on" You're not that old, nan. But certainly, you've got stories to share with the whippersnappers? :)— September 28, 2009 2:02 p.m.
Sit Down, Relax, Watch, Smile
Russian Ark: Here is a film with the longest continous camera sweep--it goes the entire film, if you can imagine! Slow and ponderous in parts, a little unwieldy with the narrating ghost of a Russian aristocrat narrating events and objects in St. Petersburg's Winter Palace--but it gets amazing with the ballroom scene, and into other long dead historical characters: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0318034/— September 28, 2009 1:51 p.m.
Sit Down, Relax, Watch, Smile
Yeah, this thing was all over CNN last night. Go, kids! :)— September 28, 2009 1:39 p.m.
