Some Musings On Our Fast-Food Culture...
An excellent start :)— September 30, 2009 1:22 p.m.
There's No Cheating In Scrabble
I know, it's counter-intuitive. I have problems with anagrams and acronyms, too. You'd probably beat me, but I'd play you anyway. One of my little cousins plays it with friends online--you may have played with her. She's fierce :)— September 30, 2009 1:19 p.m.
There's No Cheating In Scrabble
We dealt with this topic on a blog a while back--apparently Mr. Board is quite the scrabble afficionado. I am not the greatest at it or any type of game, except "the dictionary game."— September 30, 2009 1:15 p.m.
Some Musings On Our Fast-Food Culture...
nan implored: "couldn't we do a tryst with someone more interesting like Penn and Teller???" DO IT! I am writing one right now for y'all's readin' pleasure. I imagine Penn's a noisy fellow in the sack, Teller not so much. Hey, why have the whole thing go down in a "Love Sac?" :) For more info, see FullFlavorPike's blog.— September 30, 2009 1:12 p.m.
Some Musings On Our Fast-Food Culture...
nan: "...the Snowbirds on a Canadian website i go to" Hey nan, are you a snowbird? Have had a few of them in my family too--ah, to live the life of a Canadian goose--or a "loony" :)— September 30, 2009 1:09 p.m.
My husband is slowly falling in love with San Diego
...and the full title of the song is: "The Ghosts of Saturday Night (After Hours at Napoleone's Pizza House)" and there is "San Diego Serenade" http://www.lyricsfreak.com/t/tom+waits/san+diego+… There is another song where he mentions the 5 fwy merging with the 805. I have it somewhere on a compilation, but can't remember the name. It has a strong jazzy bass behind it--anyone remember?— September 30, 2009 1:04 p.m.
My husband is slowly falling in love with San Diego
Was wondering if there were any Tom Waits lyrics about this place, then, as well as the freeway. Thanks for that valuable bit of SD history!— September 30, 2009 11:59 a.m.
Beach Cruisin' for a Bruisin'
Redbaron, because you are illegally embedding ads within these threads, I will make sure to NEVER ever buy a bike from either of these sources. Guess what I purchased the other day at Walmart?! A really cool bike for $86 ! It's pink and green, and I like to ride it everywhere! See how obnoxious that is? :)— September 30, 2009 11:54 a.m.
Everybody always wants to throw glass in stone houses and, sooner or later, someone's going to lose an eye!
Ok, Pierre Menard. Excellent 'translation' :)— September 30, 2009 2:45 a.m.
Beyond the Catchy Jingle
RE: the post-ad ad: The general public has become used to, and even to some degree expects irony and self-reflexivity in advertising--of course with liberal splashes of naive presence ("now, more than ever") to counteract the effect :) It will make me a happy deconstructionist to buy a New England text and a cookbook, pref. Mastering the Art of French Cooking, or Better Homes and Gardens, and set them up so I can read juxtaposed portions of text! :)— September 30, 2009 2:43 a.m.
