Bonus Blog: Funny Things Cats Do
Don't the medium and longhaired cats look like they are wearing Arabian Nights pantaloons, though? Mica has the Elizabethan ruff and the silky balloon drawers, so it is hard to take whatever he says seriously :)— October 16, 2009 3:39 a.m.
UCSD's Gary Jacobson frets about polarization
ARg, I wish I could get to bed. Wrote more on cats for you :)— October 16, 2009 3:36 a.m.
UCSD's Gary Jacobson frets about polarization
Hey Cuddle, you're back up! :) refried advised: "Learn from intelligent dialogue, ignore the stone throwing." You forgot: "Try to refrain from stone throwing." That is my problem with Pete; he does not seem to have empathy for other human beings. I could be wrong, but have seen little evidence of it, and his cold behavior this evening about the flu virus just ground that impression in further. I'd love to be proven wrong on this, as I am always happy to be able to be right to expect the best of people.— October 16, 2009 3:16 a.m.
This Just In! One Out of Three Ex-Smokers Misses Smoking!
re: #27: Actually, no offense was taken at all. I was just pointing out that after the smoke cleared, the dust-health issue in NYC was swept under the rug, as it were. And the second-hand smoke issue was dealt with very well in the smoking thread I mention in #3, so I won't comment further.— October 16, 2009 3:10 a.m.
Dear Mr. Fantasy
"I feel so much a part of your [missing word] right now." Is this a mad lib? :)— October 16, 2009 3:02 a.m.

Yeah, you started out with a great idea, a bird's eye and ear view onto drunken sidewalk convo. Git to gittin'! PS: Pike, forgive the ignorance, but whose 60s rockstar image are you using for your avatar photo?— October 16, 2009 2:40 a.m.

It is great! Can't believe I thought that song (really titled "Kelly, Watch the Stars") featured a Japanese ping pong tournament. Must have been channeling last Olympics?— October 16, 2009 2:37 a.m.
Too Sweet For a Price
"All are amazed to find Kansas has been conquered by Venusian zombie dragons. Teaming up to liberate prevent the undead, proto-saurian conquest of the American Midwest, all characters unite in their shared struggle." I think a serious treatment could be worked up for this--let's collaborate on a screenplay :)— October 16, 2009 2:26 a.m.

Thank you CuddleFish--it isn't as bad as it could be, and you have helped, my friend. Sweet dreams :)— October 16, 2009 12:54 a.m.
Bonus Blog: Funny Things Cats Do
Requiem in pace, Mr. Brown... Mica fetches, too! A lot of them do as kittens, then forget how. I have tried training him with a clicker and treats, but we have only gotten as far as him perching on a low post and adopting a monkeylike position with his paws hanging down, to get that treat. He still fetches a little, but it is pretty hit or miss, at his convenience :) Anything with feathers, I've found to be the favorite, and any kind of wand. We got Mica a wand with an electronic squeaking mouse at the end. It was funny because the wand was shaped like a tree branch with little tufts of greenery. I think these toys are often designed more with the owner in mind than the cat, and with many of them, I have to tear off felt ears and eyeballs before they are safe for him to play with... As for the lino and carpet skidding, yes, that is a hoot! I have taken to dragging Mica around on a small carpet, in keeping with his "pasha" image. He lies there majestically as I pull along the carpet, enjoying the changing view of kitchen appliances :)— October 16, 2009 12:53 a.m.
