The Busby Affair
If there IS a crime in progress that they observe, they have every right once they're in the house. That's the thing though,Josh. There was no crime in progress that the cop could observe. He had NO right to even be in the house in the first place. I used to throw hellacious house parties when I was a teenager. Underage drinking, copious amounts of sex, drugs,LOUD rock'n'roll. You name it,we probably did it. Everytime the cops would arrive,I'd simply tell everyone"DO NOT open the door". It's simple. If they can't get in without a warrant, they can't arrest. It doesn't matter how many laws were being broken. I didn't allow any drinking and driving so my friends had no reason to leave. The cops stayed outside one night ALL night long. By 8am,the house was silent,my guests were sober and it was before curfew. They couldn't stop anyone when leaving the house. This went on for years. A few times, friends of mine would sneak out the back door to the garage when I wasn't looking to leave for a little while. Those people were arrested.— August 31, 2009 8:31 p.m.

What was the Kolander case? I'm just curious as to what happened and how it's gotten to the appeals court.— August 31, 2009 2:06 p.m.
John Moores sinks Padres pay to number 29 of 30 teams
The Viqueens and Buffalo Bobs just suck! What's funny is that Favre and T.O. actually think they can lead those teams to the promised land. Ain't happenin'. Warm weather teams may be just as adept at winning the Super Bowl but cold weather teams take the cake in history's most exciting games. Only one game was played in warm weather and that was the Chargeless/Dolphins Championship game in '81. All others were played in either extremly cold weather or really s***ty weather.— August 31, 2009 11:18 a.m.
The Busby Affair
What you guys are forgetting is that the cop didn't have the right to ask anyone for ID. If I'm walking down the street doing nothing but minding my own business and a cop arrests me because I refuse to show him ID,he's violating the 4th Amendment. Stop and frisk "However, in certain circumstances, authorities are permitted to conduct a limited warrantless search on a level of suspicion less than probable cause. In Terry v. Ohio 392 U.S. 1 (1968), the Supreme Court decided that when a policeman "observes unusual conduct" that leads him to reasonably believe "that criminal activity may be afoot" and that the suspicious person has a weapon and is presently dangerous to the policeman or others, he may conduct a "pat-down search" (or "frisk"), to determine whether the person is in fact carrying a weapon. To conduct a frisk, the policeman must be able to point to specific and articulable facts which, taken together with rational inferences from those facts, reasonably warrant his actions.[21] A vague hunch will not do. Such a search must be temporary and questioning must be limited to the purpose of the stop (i.e., if the policeman stopped you because he had reasonable suspicion to believe that you were driving a stolen car, after confirming that it is not stolen, he cannot force you to answer questions about anything else, such as the possession of contraband).[22]" Arrest "A police officer does not have the authority to arrest someone for refusing to identify himself when he is not suspected of committing a crime.[32] A search incidental to an arrest that is not permissible under state law does not violate the Fourth Amendment, if the arresting officer has probable cause.[33][34]" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourth_Amendment_to_…— August 31, 2009 11:10 a.m.

Prison Inmates (Dedicated to Dominick Dunne)
It's funny you say that. Every prison I went to in Wisconsin had some sort of softball league. It was very strange.— August 31, 2009 10:46 a.m.
Car Crime
The problem out here isn't cars for sale. It's semis blocking the view when turning in or out of the shopping center next to Carmel Mountain Drive and Stoney Peak Drive. Thanks for the info though. They did post a couple of No Trucks over 5 Tons signs on the west side of Stoney Peak next to my apartment complex..The noise has moved across the street but now the view is blocked even worse than what is was. Stoney Peak is a VERY busy street during the day. It'll be a matter of time until someone gets seriously hurt or killed trying to turn from the shoping center left onto Stoney Peak.— August 30, 2009 2:56 p.m.
John Moores sinks Padres pay to number 29 of 30 teams
Let me be the first to congratulate the Park View All-Stars. I doubted them the whole time this past week but they made a believer out of me. They earned my respect and I hate baseball. They overcame some serious odds.— August 30, 2009 2:51 p.m.
John Moores sinks Padres pay to number 29 of 30 teams
Anyone who thinks this Special Olympics team is going all the way this year is on some great drugs. The Chargeless(regardless of what string it was)defense allowed a 3rd string QB walk 22 yards to the house for a TD. Uhhhhhh Houston? Ron Rivera is a sell out. What the hell is a player from one of the greatest teams in NFL history doing in Sandy Eggo coaching a sandlot football team? And I loved seeing Rivers take his place on his back twice last night. People ALL say"But it's just pre-season". Go ahead and think that. I'll bet the Steelers,Colts and Patriots aren't in the pre-season mindset. The stronger you play in pre-season just shows the rest of the league that you mean business. Not too long ago my roommate and I were driving in Esco. He had on some local sports show that allows national calls. This guy from Minnesota summed it up perfectly. He basically said that because Sandy Eggo is a party town that doesn't get cold weather, the players don't work as hard come November and December. If you think about it,it makes perfect sense. Teams like the Packers,Steelers,Giants,Bears and Redskins all make it to the Super Bowl and usually win because it's hard to get drunk and party your a$$ off when it's 20 below. I've said it for 4 years. Sandy Eggo has no heart. No determination and no soul. THAT'S why you'll never see a Lombardi here.— August 30, 2009 9:35 a.m.
